Hi, I'm French, I love christmas postcards like those I saw in a Wallgreens in San Francisco last year during my holidays. I'd like to choose and order postcards like those by internet but I don't know where. I looked at ebay but I didn't nothing interesting except old christmas postcards. I inherited a collection of at least 75 postcards, some Easter, Christmas, Thanksgiving along with countless letters, propaganda pamphlets and bible pamphlets, and advertisements from the 1900s to 1920s... can anyone tell me where I can find information to decern how much these things are worth? The postcards I can find but the advertising and letters are harder. Thank you.

A: check out ebay for similar items and how much they are selling for. sellers will include all they know about a piece and you can learn from these examples.

A: What an idiot...you didn't say what you were mailing...letter, postcard, package, llama etc and didn't say where you are located. Can you mail a llama?

Q: Hs anyone heard about the 1914 Christmas postcard that had been lost for 93 years?
It seems that the card, featuring Santa Claus and a little girl, was mailed to a woman in Oberlin, Kansas by her cousins in Alma, Nebraska and postmarked, Dec. 23, 1914. As it were, the card never showed up, until now, that is. It surfaced earlier this week in Illinois, hundreds of miles from its original, intended destination. They say that it is in perfect condition, and authorities are seeing that it gets to the woman's sister - in - law as the woman is now deceased. Nobody has any idea where it's been for the past 93 years. Amazing, huh?!!!

A: That's the U.S. Postal Service for ya. I can't tell you how many items of mine that have been lost in the mail, or have gotten to me much later. Who knows? Maybe one day, 93 years from now, you'll hear about the Christmas card that never got delivered to me, finally showing up somewhere.

how many christmas cards/postcards did you receive so far in the mail? And how many did you mail yourself? We have only received 3 cards in the mail and we sent out over 36 christmas cards/postcards and several more that we are fixin to sent out. Dang some of you people are lazy :-) Go mail out some cards, make the first initiative! Don't wait till other people send you a card first before you send them one.

I have to get together an early christmas package for my pen pal and I can't decide what to put in it. She lives in scotland and we are both in high school. I only have a postcard and a mix cd right now. what else can i put in? I am from the US

A: Where do you live? Not being noisy you don't have to tell me i just mean that why don't you buy her a gift that can only be bought where you come from......I am Scottish myself and i know there are several things she could send you from Scotland that you cannot buy anywhere else. Maybe you could do the same?

Q: Should I send a Christmas postcard to him?
Help me please! I don't know what to do! This autumn I've fallen in love on-line with one guy from abroad. He seemed to like me a lot too but then he told me that's hard for him to be so far and to be able to meet only in summer and little by little he has stopped replying all of my letters. Before that he told me he wanted to write regular mail letters with me and he gave me his address but I din't give him mine because I thought I will write him first and he will see the address on the envelope. I started to write a letter to him for 3 times and never sent it because all of them appeared to be very sad... And one more thing.. He stopped replying my e-mails in October but we both are on Myspace and I am his number two all the time since then... He never moved me... These days I went to the shop to buy some Christmas cards to send to my abroad friends and couldn't stand and buy one card that remind me of him so much!!! So now I wonder shall I send this card or not? I want but the same time I don't know what to write and don't know if this will be some kind of hamiliation for me as he has stopped any contacts with me and even doesn't reply my smses. A: Well Maria, it doesn't sound good. Send him the card but stop bugging him. I seems as if the thrill is gone and he has moved on. Don't be sad about it!!!! Now you are free to find someone closer to you who has the time and desire to be with you. Keep "whats his name" as a friend. Limit your attempts at contacting him and pretty soon you'll be over him too.

Q: Do You Recycle Your Christmas Cards?
I turn used christmas cards into christmas postcards. I would tear/cut off the front of the used card with the beautiful picture on it and trim it, if needed and go on the backside (where it's usually blank) and draw a divided line where you put the addresses on the right and your message on the left. That's it! Usually, the front of the christmas cards that you turn into postcards, are mostly larger than your average postcard and you'd have to pay the standard "first class mail letter rate". It does not matter how heavy it or how large it is, the first class rate does not fluctuate, unlike using envelopes. But you may get lucky and pay the postcard rate if your christmas postcard is small enough. But hey! at least recycling your old christmas cards and making into postcards sure beats buying new envelopes for them and licking them and you save trees this way! And you don't have to worry about buying new christmas cards because you can use the ones you already have and send them to different people. If possible, don't send the same card that the person sent to you the year before, send them a different card that came from a different person. Of course you make sure that the card doesn't have any previous writing from it!

Q: Do You Recycle Your Old Christmas Cards?
Do you recycle your old/used christmas cards? I always recycle mine and transform it into christmas postcards. What I would do is to tear the front of the used card (the one with the picture on it and where the backside is usually blank) and I would trim the edges, if needed. And I go on the backside and draw a divided line. On the right side, I would put the return and recipients' addresses and on the left side I would write a christmas greeting. Then put the postage stamp and pop it in the mail Viola! That's it! Usually most of the christmas fronts that are transformed into postcards, you have to pay the regular first class letter mail rate (the rate does not fluctuate no matter how large or how heavy it is, it is a fixed rate) but you may get lucky and if the card is small enough, you may end up just paying the postcard rate. But at least this way you don't have to spend your time making new envelopes (and licking them) and you save more trees! Anybody else use this idea?

A: Well I would say it's a good idea. I don't celebrate Christmas and I save all my greeting cards for sentimental value but what you do is very creative!

Q: What is the best thing to do if you have a bad mood in the situation like this one?
I've dated on-line one guy, e told me he liked me so very much but then just stopped replying my letters and going on msn! I've written a lot of letters to him where I asked him to stay with me but he didn't reply! At first he did, he told he was busy and he that he thought of me but then he stopped... It has passed several monthes and this Christmas as it's such a day of love I decided to write him a Christmas comment on myspace. I've written it in his own language the one I've learnt while we didn't contact... And it was so red and with hearts :S and actually so sweet. If I had recieved it from the worst person in the world I would defenitely reply! But he didn't... And he has checked his myspace page oly today and besides me there was one other girl who has siply wished him Christmas even after it's over and my comment looks really crazy (being with so many hearts but that was from my heart!) together with hers small... but he didn't reply on her comment too while he ALWAYS replied to her no matter what! I guess that's because he saw my message and that made him think... but anyway I know he won't reply as always and this makes me sad and even angry on myself that I've done this!!! I wanted to change all my names in all messages into bad words after that but decided that will make things worth? How do you think? Am I right? And what can we do when we have a bad mood? Think of this or try to forget? I wonder if we try to forget will it come out later or will it really be forgotten and better not to disturb it!!! And what else interesting... I felt when that guy has read that message!!! I just had a very strong thought of him that moment while I was in the bath and I KNEW that was because he's read that or maybe because he thought of me after reading... And when I came out it appeared to be true... Anyway tell me please everything you think of this! This will help me to come over this I guess... or to think of something else... I even wanted to send a Christmas postcard to this guy as he once gave me his address and I've bought it but didn't send... What do you think about my question and everything else here? A: I want to know why sweet wonderful girls like you always fall for guys who treat you like that???? I mean I really, really want to know! I've seen it so many times in my life and it always puzzles me. A guy who loves you AND who needs you isn't going to ever ignore you... remember that.

Q: What would be your perfect Christmas scenario? Nothing deep...just festive, fun, foolish, etc...?
Nothing deep here, no wishes for peace in the middle-east. No abolishing poverty. We're talking Norman Rockwell, family, friends, gifts, celebrations, romance, love, white Christmas... All that picture postcard stuff that everyone romanticizes about and only happens a few times in a lifetime. Mine is to have the week off, snow on the ground, surrounded by family and friends. And a trip to the Berkshires and NYC to see the Christmas sights.

A: here's my favorite scene....... my family generally celebrates with one side or the other on Christmas Eve. We attend a rural church that is 1/4 mile from my house, so everyone attends a 5pm Christmas Service then come to our house for dinner and gifts... one year I accidentally left the lights 'on' on the tree when we left and when we got back the scene was absolutely perfect, the timer had kicked on the outside lights and it was starting to snow and there was my tree in our huge living room window all lit up for Christmas, wish I had taken a picture, but I can still close my eyes and see it. :)
