Q: What gift can I get for my mama after I've gotten her everything?
I really don't know what to get her this year. I can't come up with anything else. I've gotten her stuff from Bath and Body Works, clothes, shoes, jewelry, things for her bed, flowers, perfumes, I've even made her CDs. Last year I went online and got her a personalized Bible and one for my stepfather too (God knows I need one with my evil self, lol.) I already told her that I couldn't top that, ain't no way. She told me not to try because its the thought that counts. I hate to get someone the same thing year after year, especially my mama. My sister told me I should get something that she can hang on the wall in her house. I already made her two gospel CDs and bought some perfume, but I don't know what else I can get. My mama is the type of person where I could just say Merry Christmas and she'd be happy. So I want to get her something else really nice. I was thinking I would throw in a Christmas card because she loves little things like that, but I need something else too. Suggestion?
Everybody else is getting something from the Dollar Tree in the mall. That's right I said it! lol
A: Find a picture of you and her when you were a little kid. Have a copy made in black and white, or blow it up to a larger size or something similar. Find a nice wooden frame that would look nice hanging on the wall in her house. Write a heartfelt message to her on the back of the frame (on the backing). I'm sure almost any mother would love to receive a gift like that!
Q: Is It Rude to Do This?
My friend who sent me a Christmas Card put a huge mailing label that took half an envelope in big red letters of her education.
Nancy Rena Ph.D.
Nancy Rena M.B.A.
The card is not even christmasy but has a huge weenie like dog chasing a red dot.
And she proceeds to spell my last name wrong. Usually she is always right about it.
Is she bragging and what is she trying to prove? your thoughts?
Note: Personally, I have a degree but would never put it on personalized things but only on a resume if requested.
Tx I agree it is rude and glaring.
We are no longer good friends from a long while.
A: The way you have described this entity indicates she has a big 'ego problem.' You should ignore her and not communicate with her. She is sincerely NOT worth your time. While you waste time worrying about her, you are devaluing your significance. YOU are more important than this whole picture. I wish you well. Peace!
Q: What should I get my new in-laws for Christmas? They're impossible.?
They're very well off and have everything they need and want, and they don't like anything that's not practical. They get dozens of goodie baskets from business associates, and personalized trinkets just aren't their thing. They don't shop or go out to eat (or go out at all), and neither use the internet, so gift cards are no good. They don't watch movies or listen to music. They're just impossible!
They just bought a new vacation home in AZ, so I was thinking something for that may-be? They have all the basics already, though. Mom likes gardening, but she can't anymore (she's got MS), and she has no other interests... Dad likes fishing and golf, but he likes to buy all of his own stuff. He's also a history guy but he doesn't need any more books -- he already knows it all.
I am so screwed. Please help. ANY suggestions are welcome.
A: Some exotic flowering cactus for their home or desert lawn might be nice. Sun hat? An orange tree? A book of Georgia O'Keefe paintings?
My dad has retired to the south to "golf his life away". I asked him who his favorite golfer was, then went and bought his putter! He was *wowed*, and this is a guy who doesn't get excited.
Q: What can I make for my friends and family for Christmas?
I love making people things! It means a lot more. so for my sister I was thinking about making her one of those fleece blankets, and getting her some lotion or making bath salts. For my dad I'm getting one of those coffee mugs with a personalized picture on them, and putting homemde toffee in it.
For my mom I have no idea!
Also I don't know about my friends either. I know I'm making them cookies, but I don't know what else to make them. (there are girls and guys)
and my grandma and grandpa, aunts and uncles!
please give me some ideas, b/c we're going to hobby lobby or joannes fabric today! thank you!
(please dont tell me to get gift cards b/c that is soooo lame!)
A: That's very thoughtful of you.
I would suggest, if you like cooking, giving them a plum pudding. It's one of the most delicious things for me.
Q: Anybody have ideas for a Christmas present for mom....from a son? ?
Please help! I dunno what exactly to get my mom, cause I'm a dude and I don't know that women like......
I was thinking of a USB battery charger and a memory card reader since she uses the digital camera quite a bit and she's always running out of batteries for it, the card reader would be a way to get the pictures off of the card without draining the camera charge...but is this a good idea? I know it's not very a very personalized gift, so does anybody have a better idea?
A: She'd probably appreciate the fact that you really were thinking of HER and what she needs. Instead of just getting her some pajamas or perfume you are actually thinking of YOUR mom, not some generic mom. I think it's great! Maybe throw in a card and some of her fav. candy if she eats candy.
Q: What to get my GF for christmas?
I want to get her something extravagant and something she'll really enjoy. We're both 13 and we've been together since November '06 and she's just a great girl.I would like to get her a personalized necklace and bracelet that says " Craig & Alyana together forever" but it seems to mushy-gooshy, even know we really do like eachother, but i want to get her something she'll cherish! My budget is nothing over 700$. She loves abercrombie & fitch and i got her a gift card for her birthday which was last week, and i just want to get her something amazing. Thanks!
how does a 13 year old get 700 bucks? It's called a bank account. I save every penny i get, and badabing-I have 700 bucks.
A: Wow ,, 700! =] ,,
I think the bracelet sounds a nice idea ,,
but I think a silver charm bracelet with chams of all the things she likes ,,
and one little heart shaped one with A&C Forever x on it ,,
If my boyfriend got me that I'd adore it!
I don't think your idea is gushy at all ,, you have been going out for two years!
Good luck ,, =] x
Q: cheap but classy christmas!?
i have a gynourmous family! and i dont want to spend ooodles and ooodles on everybody, seeing as how out of all the gifts i go out of my way to pick and personalize to everone, i generally dont get many back. i dont want to sound selfish, or like all i want is gifts, but i dont think my efforts are appreciated if they cant even give me a card. i generally spend hundreds and hundreds, and am looking to make that number less. i enjoy giving presents just want to feel as if they are appreciated. and if thats not gonna happen i dont want to spend a lot of cash! seems futile.
anywho... any ideas?

Q: personalized Christmas cards ?
i want to send out personalized Christmas cards this year i want to get my daughters picture put on the front but i don't know is that something you can get done at wal-mart or something like that or where would you go to do that
A: WalMart, Walgreens, FedX/Kinkos (my personal choice, but they are a bit pricier than most places) and camera shops (even pricier) can make really nice cards for you, but, since you are using your computer to post this question, is there any reason that you don't want to make the cards yourself?
If you are taking the photograph of your child on a digital camera, that camera came with software that will allow you to upload the images to your computer, where you can use the software that came with your computer to make the image any size that you like. Then you can use a program like Publisher (which also came installed on your computer) to make your cards. Just follow the prompts on the program and you will have a wonderful card.
You can purchase appropriate card stock and envelopes at any office supply store, as well as at most craft and discount stores. Even Walgreen's sells everything that you need.
Making your own cards is more fun and more satisfying than you can imagine. But, you can still take your photograph or memory card to any of the places I mentioned and they will be glad to make your cards for you. This is a very, very cool idea and I hope that you let us know how it worked for you.
Q: Christmas Cards?
Anyone have any cute ideas on making a christmas card for my best friend. Possibly with some quotes. Basically a really personalized card. Maybe adding pics.
A: you could save all effort and just buy a card.

A: How about this pop up kama sutra book? It's only £9.99 and looks great - http://www.hawkin.com/find/category-is-Books/category-is-Books+for+Adults/product-is-08958
Check out the rest of the website as they have bits and bobs that will do as stocking fillers. Or this is quite good too - http://www.pabo.com/shop2/index.php?VID=j7i83e6sud3os59unqg9s6f6h6&mid=1782&cid=204&svAffiliate=5012&Nr=225505190000&artname=duvet-set-Cheeky&kategorie=0&svValue=duvet
Again, have a look at the other stuff they do - it's rather saucy, but I'm sure he won't complain! Good luck.

Q: Do I send a thank you card?
I am the QUEEN of thank you cards. I love personalized stationary and I send a thank you card for everything I get because I believe in it.
Now here's my story:
For Christmas this year my Grandparents called me and my sister and said, "We've decided this year we're going to use your Christmas present money to buy animals for families in third world countries. Pigs are $30, Goates are $50, Turkeys are $25, and 10 baby chicks are $10. I need you to let me know what kind of animals you want to buy."
My feelings about this aside, do I send her a thank you card? If so, how is that phrased? "Thanks for sending the needy families some animals." or "Thanks for donating my gift to charity, that was thoughtful of you."
I will be seeing them in person Christmas morning.
Yes, I agree it is wonderful to help charities. In fact I donate to the American Cancer Society because I've lost 2 people very close to me to Breast Cancer. I also volunteer at the Star of Hope women's shelter in downtown Houston and I adopted an angel at church to buy christmas presents for. This is how I choose to give back. It is actually kind of a bummer not to get Christmas presents from my grandparents.
I am 28 years old with 2 kids of my own, but that doesn't mean i'm too old for gifts. That actually means that I get LESS gifts than ever! lol. My husband and I don't exchange gifts because we do the adopt an angel thing instead, so i only get gifts from my parents and grandparents.
I will send a thank you since that seems to the the unanimous consensus.
A: If you love writing thank you's and normally send them to your grandparents, then definitely write them thank you.
Simply use the latter of the two. Thank them for helping needy families and let them know that you appreciate putting the donation in your name.
Q: What to get my Girlfriend for her birthday?
Okay, my girlfriend's 15th birthday is coming up in about a month and I wanna make it good! This is her first birthday in our relationship (we have been dating since Nov. 24th, 2006). Im not sure what to get her. People say I shouldn't blow alot of money on her but I really want to! For Christmas I bought her a $120 Heart-Shaped, Sterling Silver necklace with tiny diamonds in it. Then, for Vday I bought her a HUGE $60 Teddy bear, roses, a personalized glass heart with our names on it, and a poem I made. I even bought her a new rose later that day because she squeezed the first one so tight it broke! haha. I wanna make her birthday even better. So far im getting her a $50 Starbucks Card because she loves starbucks. I kinda want to get her a pearl necklace (because its her birthstone) but I already got her a necklace for Christmas. She likes music but she already ahs an iPod. I can't think of anything she wants that she doesnt already have. By the way, I'm 16. I have about a $300 Budget.
A: Go easy man! Sounds like you could be smothering her. Or worse, maybe she actually likes all the gifts and will come to expect them in the future. Do you really want your girlfriend to appreciate the gifts you give her more than the sentiment?
Cook her a meal
Make her a mix-CD
Write her a poem
Sing her a song
Take her on a surprise picnic in a romantic location, where you arranged everything ahead of time.

Q: How to Talk to My Parents About a Death?
So I went to a Church Camp this July and made friends from around the country. One boy, let's call him Bob, was from Florida. In August he passed away. I've been emailing the family and we have been becoming friends. For Christmas I wanted to send them personalized wrist bands that say we won't forget Bob. The thing is we need a credit card to order them, I'm 15, my parents don't know about Bob. I don't know how to talk to them about Bob. I'm not all that comfortable about talking aloud about him, but I have sent emails about him to my Boyscout troop asking for donations.
I just need help on talking to my parents about Bob. Please help me. I'm just not that comfortable, but know that I need to talk to them about him. Thanks.
A: First off, you don't have to tell both parents. Pick the one your most comfortable with and talk to him/her alone. Most likely the parent you choose will tell the other one so you don't have to worry about telling your other parent.
Second, as you sit down with, let's just say Dad. Tell him straight off the back that you don't really want this to be a big issue. You want to talk to them about it but than it's better left as alone as possible. (That is if you want it to be.)
Tell them what you need to say and ask if they could help you out with buying the wrist bands.
It might not be comfortable to talk to your parents about this. All teenagers know this feeling. Whether you have a good relationship with your parents or a bad one there are always things you feel uncomfortable talking about with them and would prefer not to. But sometimes you need to do it. Ask yourself this question, "Is it worth the uncomfortableness to talk to my parents about this, so I can honor a death of a friend?" I personally would think it's worth it. Because your helping out this family and being uncomfortable might be worth it to see the looks on their faces as they see how much you care when they see the wrist bands.
It will be uncomfortable. There's no doubt about that. But sometimes you just have to push through it. And if they start making a big deal about it remind them you don't want it to be.
Or sometimes I write them a letter and put it on their pillow before they go to bed or before I go to school. If it's too uncomfortable to tell them face to face it's okay to email them or write a letter.
I hope I helped.
Good luck!
