Q: Are you going to buy Christmas decorations today?
A lot of stores have them up. Would you buy a Christmas decoration today? It's a yes, or no answer.

A: NO.

Q: In your opinion, when should Christmas decorations be put up?
I'm not a huge fan of Christmas to begin with, and usually I'm sick and tired by all the Christmas decorations and Christmas music by about the first week of December at the latest. I don't do any decorating at home, and I don't let my employees put up the decorations at work until after Thanksgiving - and I won't put on the Christmas music until after Thanksgiving.

A: There are two schools of thought regarding turning lights on. 1. The day after Thanksgiving (plus or minus a day or three) is an acceptable time to turn lights on. 2. The first of December is a good day to turn lights on (or anytime thereafter). If you have a ton of lights to install, go ahead and start putting them out now and have them ready for your light up date. Q: When do people put there christmas decorations up?
i live in uk and christmas seems to have come early to many people here lol ive seen decorations up since october! in shops and in homes. I dont know when to put mine up 12 days before or today you know like the advent calanders count down to christmas. When does everyone else put theres up???

A: Leave them until 12 days before. They not only get really dusty if you leave them up over a month but you get bored of them. 37 days of christmas decorations is a bit excessive. I've seen trees up in house in the middle of November, these people must be loony. I'll have mine up the week before christmas. Less chance of the cat eating or destroying them. I'm in the UK, if any Americans put theirs up last week all I want to say is you're mad, really mad, you can't have christmas in November.

Q: What Time should i put up my Christmas Decorations?
i just wanted to know what time i should put up my christmas decorations today?? 10 points=Best Answer thanks so much!!

A: I would start around 10:00 a.m. That way you'll have been able to relax, sleep in, eat breakfast, etc., and then get started. And, if you're in the US, you'll have about 7-8 hours to put things up outside (if that's what you're focusing on). Good luck

Q: Where do you keep your Christmas decorations when not in use?
I'm putting away my Christmas things, and I don't have much space. We don't have a basement, just an attic for storage. I can't lift the artificial tree into the attic. Do you think it's safe to store the tree in the garage? Is it safe to store the knicknacks in the attic?

A: We have our tree in a large plastic storage bin, and it's been stored in garages, attics and basements at various times in it's 15 year life. It has come to no harm in any of the spots. The knicknacks are also stored in plastic bins (Rubbermaid type containers), wrapped or boxed inside. Aside from the candles and fabric things, it's all been fine in the basements and attics. The candles tend to do better in basements, as attics can get really hot and we had some get warped in the attic. On the other hand, the attic was much easier on the tablecloths and such than the basement, for the basement tended to be damper than the attic. If you just talking about the tree decorations and such, they should do just fine in the attic. Just keep the linens and candles, and delicate items in the house - perhaps in a closet or under the bed. And be sure to keep the tree in a plastic tub if you put it in the garage, so no "creatures" go stirring for nesting materials during the rest of the year.

Q: where can i find really good Christmas decorations?
I need something to hang over the balcony that overlooks the foyer. Wal-mart had really cheap looking decorations. This is a beautiful newly built house and I wanted to find something nice.

A: wal-mart,the dollar store(they got nice ones),the mall,i mean anywhere except grocer stores and other kind of stores.its really not hard to find. :]

Q: What are some unique Christmas decorations you have done or seen?
Do you know of any Christmas crafts, recipes, and traditions that are unique?

A: This is something I made last year for friends and they loved it! Candy Cane Vase Here's an easy Christmas craft that makes a lovely gift for kids to make for their teacher, mom, grandparents or friends. Candy Cane Vase You Will Need: 30 to 40 candy canes strong rubber band clean tin can evergreen trimmings - cedar, pine, spruce, juniper or holly wire-edged ribbon Instructions: 1. Place a strong rubber band around the tin can, approximately half way down from the top. 2. Begin inserting wrapped candy canes into the rubber band so the hooked part of the cane faces outward. As you proceed around the can, you might find that the candy canes tend to fall to one side. Just keep straightening them as you work - once the last candy cane is in place, you should find that the candy canes will stay upright on their own. If not, add another rubber band, fairly close to the first one, to keep everything in place. 3. Tie a wire-edged ribbon over the rubber band and make a nice bow. If you like, you can cut the ends of the ribbon on a slant, or in a vee shape, for a nice touch. 4. Add sprigs of fresh evergreen trimmings to the tin can and your Christmas candy cane vane is complete. See picture! http://www.allfreecrafts.com/christmas/candy-cane-vase.shtml

Q: Christmas Decorations in Santa Monica and Anaheim?
I am travelling to Santa Monica on Dec 30th and then to Anaheim a few days later from Australia. I was wondering whether any Christmas decorations will still be up in the streets and/or what sort of holiday traditions or celebrations are going on at that time of the year. Thanks

A: Most decorations are pulled down just after New Years but many of the private homes will still have decorations in place. Lots to do in LA for New Years. Check the LA times newspaper for current attractions, clubs and restaurants.

Q: How long do disneyworld christmas decorations stay up?
I'm going to disneyworld Jan.2 -12. Does anybody know how long they leave the christmas trees and deco up? I heard it was through the first weekend. Is this true? Thanks for the info.

A: Most holiday decorations are up and visible until at least January 6 or 7. There are killer decorations in the resorts, including a huge gingerbread house in the Grand Floridian resort and chocolate sculptures in the Contemporary. The Osbourne Family Spectacle of Lights is up at Disney's MGM Studios, usually until the same January 6 or 7.

Q: Why are nutcrackers used a Christmas decorations?
why is the "Nutcracker Ballet" performed oonly at Christmas time?

A: Have you seen the Nutcracker and do you know the story? The ballet is a story of a little girl named Clara who has this dream on Christmas Eve. It makes sense that it is considered a Christmas play. Nutcrackers are used as Christmas decorations because they are associated with Christmas & Nutrcracker Ballet. ********************************************************************* Act I The curtain opens to see the Stahlbaums' house, where a Christmas party is being held. Clara, her little brother Fritz, and their mother and father are celebrating with friends and family, when the mysterious godfather, Herr Drosselmeyer, enters. He quickly produces a large bag of gifts for all the children. All are very happy, except for Clara, she being the only one who does not receive a gift. Herr Drosselmeyer then produces three life-sized dolls, who each take a turn to dance. When the dances are done, Clara approaches Herr Drosselmeyer asking for a gift. Sadly, Drosselmeyer is out of presents. Clara runs to her mother in a fit of tears. Drosselmeyer conjures up a Nutcracker. Clara is happy, but her brother Fritz is jealous, and breaks the Nutcracker. Drosselmeyer chases him off and mends the toy. The party ends and the Stahlbaum family go to bed, but Clara is concerned about her Nutcracker, and comes out to the Christmas tree to see it. She falls asleep with the Nutcracker in her arms. When the clock strikes midnight, Clara hears the sound of mice. She wakes up and tries to run away, but the mice stop her. The Nutcracker and his band of soldiers rise to defend Clara, and the Mouse King leads his mice into battle. A conflict ensues, and when Clara helps the Nutcracker by throwing her slipper at the Mouse King, the Nutcracker seizes his opportunity and stabs him. The mouse dies. The mice retreat, taking their dead leader with them. Clara cries for her Nutcracker, who is also dead, and her tears bring him back to life. The two then dance, and the Nutcracker turns into a prince, who leads her into the land of the Sugar Plum Fairy, where dancing Snow Flakes greet them. Act II The people of the land dance for Clara and the Prince, and Clara wakes up under the Christmas tree with the Nutcracker toy in her arms. **************************************************************** This website will give you the history of the story of The Nutcracker and the King of Mice and variations of the story, the ballet, etc. http://www.balletmet.org/Notes/NutHist.html
