Q: Does anyone agree with me that decorating a Christmas tree is an art?
My husband cant believe I've just spent nearly two hours decorating the tree, he thinks lights etc; should just be flung on
A: it is an art and it has to be right.I usually spend about that amount of time on it as well and you will still be fiddling with it as the week goes on.(The tree that is)
Q: Christmas tree decorating- How do you decorate a Christmas tree?
I always seem to mess up the tree when I decorate it because I put the decoratings very close together, this year I am not going to do that and my family has a 7foot Martha Stewart tree and for a tree that big you have to have lots of decorations, my mom was telling to stary with the garlabd first, this year I am going to tell my dad to get more decorations for our Christmas tree, do you know someone who is like me when it comes to decorating the Christmas tree they mess up then have to fix it up so the tree will look better?
A: Basic decorating tips are you start with the lights first, then the garland, then the ornaments, and lastly the topper.
As to the ornaments, they are supposed to be a chronicle of the holiday for the family that decorates it. One of a kind ornaments (Hallmark ornaments, commemorative ornaments) are placed first by the family members the ornaments are important to. Ornament sets are placed next, scattered about so that you do not have all of one set on one side of the tree.
If you have ornaments of different sizes, you should place the smaller ornaments near the top and the larger ones near the bottom. Also try to avoid crowding ornaments together. It is not the number of ornaments that make the tree, it is the placement.
Since your family is getting a larger tree, you might suggest etting some larger decorations or even some bows that work best on the larger trees. Also do an image search for christmas trees to give you and the family some ideas of how to make the family tree more about the family while improving its attractiveness in your eyes.
Q: How did decorating a Christmas tree with candles or lights start?
A: I think it was queen Victoria's husband Albert that started that
Q: Unique ideas on decorating a Christmas Tree?
What style of ornaments to use. Maybe a theme? What colors are in this year? Any ideas or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
A: Black, white, and silver are very in this year. Lots of ornaments are made of clear glass with black/white things inside them. Definitely do white lights if you go that route.
Another thing that's in is organic stuff-- dried oranges, cinnamon sticks, and pine cones.
Q: When people are decorating their christmas tree with willow branches are they from a willow tree or bush?
Ok sorry shrub..... better?
A: Please stop saying the word "Bush". That ruins my Christmas spirit. Use the word "shrub" instead, please.
Q: When decorating a Christmas tree, what do you put on first?
I think the lights, but my pal said the baubles!
A: Christmas tree how to.
If you are spraying the tree with preservatives or snow apply that first.
Step on is the lights. Put on the lights so the wires don't cover the ornaments and garland. Don't get mislead into thinking there a correct or wrong number of lights you can use. It's also helps to use a Christmas tree cord. Extension with 3 portals 9 sockets.
I have got away with using a little as 350 lights on a 8 foot tall tree.
I don't like a little lights as this makes it too bright to see all the ornaments and uses too much energy. Go around on top and half way to the bottom go up and down and tuck the wires in as you go.
You can mix and match lights of clear and multi and different kinds.
If your using special designer lights tree these like ornaments putting an even number on all sides of the tree.
You can even cheat and using ice lights(wrap the individual strands around the the branches) and or garland lights wrap around the tree as you do regular garlands.
Rather you put the garlands, bows or the ornaments next is really up to you. The treetop really can come after you put the lights or anytime after doing the other stuff. No biggie.
Put your largest ornaments and decor on the inside of the tree and the shiny stuff on the inside to reflect the light.
Q: I need help decorating a christmas tree!!!?
~Can any one give me any ideas for an elegant looking christmas tree and also let me know where I can see pictures of decorated trees on the internet. Thanks....
A: Pick a color. Match your tree to the room it is in, or coordinate it.
Gold is gorgeous, so is silver. I personally like to mix green, red, and white.
Pick shiney ornaments, or glass ones. The lights of the tree shine through the glass ones, very pretty. Shiney ones reflect the light. Both pick up the light from the room in the daytime.
Pick a theme. I saw a tree decorated with painted wooden ornaments, like toys, boats, trains, soldiers, very cute, it had multi color lights. . Saw one in tartan plaid. Another was all snowflakes and icicles, clear lights. Saw one in all angels.
The style this year is all one color ornaments and lights, with big ornaments..
Here is a trick, buy some bigger, longer ornaments for the gaps in the tree[and the bottom], and some smaller ones for the middle of branches, and smallest ones for the top, and very ends of the branches. I coordinate the color of the end ornament to match the ornament on the branch, it draws your eye there.. I buy some of those little glass balls, that come in a plastic round package, so many for a couple of bucks.
Another cute trick, I tuck a small angel, or a doll, or a Santa face in some of the gaps, and I love to do so at eye level. People get a start when they come close to the tree and there is Santa looking back.
I have a pink tree, a cardinal tree[the bird, not the baseball or football team], and a big whatever tree.
I admit to having some Waterford Crystal ornaments. I play with the lights behind them, so they shine through the ball. It is spectacular, you can see the glow clear across the room.
Last year, Good Houskeeping magazine, Martha Stewart, Better Homes and gardens, all had xmas trees, and ornaments. Type Christmas tree into your browser, I did. also ornament.
Hope this helps. Merry Christmas.
Q: easy way to decorate Christmas tree with small kids?
Christmas tree decorating with small kids, looking for new ideas other than traditional ones, they lost their father days before Thanksgiving, and looking to brighten their Christmas with new and fun creations
A: What you'll need:
4 toothpicks, cut in half
9 small glittery white pom poms
White craft glue
White or gold ribbon
White craft paint
How to make it:
Paint the toothpicks white and let them dry.
Glue the pointed end of a toothpick into one pom pom. Repeat for all toothpicks, gluing them in a radial pattern, and let them dry.
Place a generous amount of glue onto the unglued end of one of the toothpicks glued to the center pom pom. Take one of the remaining white pom poms and glue it on. Continue this step for all the remaining toothpicks attached to the center pom pom. Allow for them all to dry completely, overnight or even two days is best--this is a fragile project!
Carefully tie a piece of yarn around one of the toothpicks up near the pom pom. Add a little glue to reinforce the knot and then let dry.
Tips:
Be carefully not to push on the toothpicks too hard as they may break.
About ten minutes into the paint drying, lift the toothpicks off the paper so that they do not stick to your work surface then return the toothpicks to paper to continue drying.
This is a fragile project and requires patience. Your best bet is to allow these to dry for two days. If you need to speed up the project, use hot glue instead. Make sure an adult is on hand if you are using the hot glue.

Q: What is the best brand of pop corn to use for decorating a christmas tree?
To be able to get a nice big pop corn.
A: At the risk of sounding like a brainwashed American consumer, I must say that Orville Redenbacher really does pop up big and fluffy, and if popped according to the directions, a higher percentage of kernels seem to pop.
Also, any popcorn seems to do a bit better if refrigerated before popping. I don't know if that condenses more moisture inside (it's the sudden conversion of water to steam that blows up the kernel), or something else, but it helps.
Someone suggested a different alternative to me yesterday: The corn puffs that you can buy by the bag in the snack aisle! They are more expensive than buying unpopped popcorn, but every single puff will be stringable, and there's no hard hull to try to push a needle through.
Looped cereal is also wonderful, and can be strung by young children without using a sharp needle. If you want a "natural" look, the cheap version of Cheerios will do (the kind sold in a bag instead of a box). The cheap version of Froot Loops gives you more color.
