Q: How come Jesus never got Christmas gifts except at age 0? Was it because he was naughty?
How come Santa never got Jesus gifts on Christmas? Was it because he was on the naughty list?
A: Yeah. Jesus was a real naughty manwh*re.
Q: Has anyone tried to lay down the law and say no Christmas Gifts between the adults?
Our extended family does not like each other but for Grandma we get together four times a year. I always tell them please no Christmas gifts between the adults this year. So I do not buy anything and they give us all kinds of things we do not want or need and then give us a hard time that we did not purchase anything. I say, don't you remember our conversation saying we are not exchanging gifts this year. They say they had never agreed to it and expect us to give gifts next year, no matter what.
How to proceed?
A: It's easier to have a gift exchange. People have a tendency to do what they're gonna do, but if you put out a thing where people sign up, list 3 things they would like for X-mas or interests within a certain dollar amount, then you only have to buy for 1 person and there is no guilt placed on others. Couple's are treated as 1 person.
My family just started doing this because it's a big family and no one can afford gifts for everyone, but you don't want anyone to feel left out. We only buy one gift for $25 because of this. The person who gets us knows 3 things we would like, when we get our assigned person/couple we'll have our list of 3 things that would be a good choice for them.
We know the person gets something they like, we get something we like, no one spends more than $25. No one bothers us about not buying them a gift.
Hubby's family does similar, you buy for one person/couple with a $40 limit. The difference is they do not give an indication of interests/gifts within the price range. That makes it WAY harder.
Hubby's family fesses up about who bought for who. My family does not. It's a mystery.
Q: What is the average amount of Christmas gifts to get your children?
How many Christmas gifts should a parent plan to get for their children? What is a typical amount??
3 kids ages 3,5,8
A: I think three or four gifts is a good amount. More importantly I think its good idea to teach children to give something back. Especially to those less fortunate than them. Ive seen children that were given too much and everything they want. They grow up and turn into very dis-satisified adults, always searching for something but never feeling satisfied.
Q: Have you ever went searching for your Christmas gifts to take a peak? Did you find them?
Have you ever went searching for your Christmas gifts to take a peak and found them? If they were wrapped, did you carefully unwrap the paper to take a peak and wrapped them back up so it would not be obvious? Did you look through the bag and spoil it for yourself? What happened?
A: No, I love surprises and that would ruin the surprise. Christmas wouldn't be any fun if you already knew what you were getting. I've accidentally found my presents before and it made me sad:(
Q: What is the point of buying Christmas gifts?
Christmas is just around the corner and I have no interest in buying gifts for people. I love to shop, but I have had major financial problems this year. I hate getting into drastic debt or taking myself down to the last dollar each year. It is not only the money issues, but I hate trying to be mind readers with people. I take time and effort trying to find gifts people like and can use, but with some people that is impossible. I just always wondered how often people take things back or use gift receipts. In recent years, I started to give gift cards and people also give me gift cards, but in a way, it is pointless...like everyone is just passing money around. Throughout the years, I also made homemade gifts such as scrapbooks and memorable pictures with nice frames, but I know some members of my family are so cluttered with stuff that they don't have room to even display that type of stuff. I guess my question is: How do I get my family members to not go crazy with xmas shopping?
How do I just get everyone to participate in the idea of just buying for the kids and not for all the adults? Is it so wrong just to get together with everyone to eat and be merry? I mentioned this in previous years, but not everyone takes the idea seriously. I don't want to be the only one not giving gifts because I will feel bad if someone gives me a gift and I do not have a gift in return? Please not that I myself am single, so I want to mainly purchase toys for my niece and nephew without buying things for every aunt, uncle, cousin, etc.
A: You shouldn't buy gifts out of obligation. You should do what you feel is right in your heart. The golden rule says we should do unto others what we would have others do unto us.
As far as why we give gifts at Christmas, apart from being a Birthday Party, albeit not ours, I'm not sure how it all got started. But I always gave my kids 3 gifts, because that was what Jesus received. I guess it all represents things about Jesus. Like, the fact that Jesus came to save, and salvation is a gift, something that Jesus bought and paid for and GIVES to us.
That is what it all means to me anyway. I hope you find some answers so you can have a Joyous Christmas this year.

Q: Should I buying Christmas gifts for work?
I just started working at a school less than 3 weeks. Christmas is around the corner and I don't know if it's appropriate to buy gifts for all the teacher or only the teachers in my grade level. What types of gifts should I get them when working on a small budget?
A: I worked at a school for 6 years. We never bought gifts for each other. Sometimes, we handed out holiday cards. To make the card special, put a piece of candy in the envelope or a candy cane. Teachers just don't make enough money to buy gifts for co-workers. Cards are greatly appreciated.
Q: How do you teach your children not to be selfish when it comes to Christmas gifts?
My parents always had us volunteer at a soup kitchen or homeless shelter on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day to show us that there are people that are less fortunate....we also were only allowed to ask for three gifts each year on our lists (since the wisemen brought Jesus three gifts) we often recieved more but it kept us from getting greedy.....and finally when we woke up the day after Christmas before we could play with any of our new stuff we had to write thank you letters to everyone that had sent us stuff...
It seems like now days all everyone cares about is how much they can get (look at the stores during the holiday season people are getting trampled!!!!) how do you keep the children in your family from being selfish and greedy during this time of year?
You're right about the religion we also went to church...I forgot to add that in...thanks!
A: My family was actually one of those less fortunate families you folks like to talk about. My father pursuing other female interests my mom managed to teach us. We (my brothers and sister, mother and I) had very little money and even fewer gifts. We sold oranges, grapefruit and pecans on the street corner for a little extra cash.
Heres the kicker. We each were allowed 2 gifts of our own choice, however, once we opened these gifts we had to choose one of our gifts to donate to someone else (usually located through my mothers work or church). My mother truely believed that it was better to give than to receive.
This same activity took place on any and all occassions where gifts were received by any of us.
To this day, I still practice this with myself.
Merry Christmas To All
Q: Does anyone have an idea for me to make for Christmas gifts?
For a couple of years now I've made Christmas gifts for my family. One year I crocheted all of them afghans, the next year I made candy and fudge. I'd like to continue making gifts, but I really haven't got any idea where to start this year. I'd appreciate some input to get me started.
A: What about bath salts for the females. You can use Epsom salt and essential oils. Mix them together and put it in a nice jar with a label.
Q: When should parents stop buying large christmas gifts for their children?
I have noticed, after the age of 20, I started to receive little gifts like toiletries at Christmas, as opposed to larger gifts when I was younger.
What age should parents stop buying larger gifts for their adult children?
A: As soon as they are 18 or leave home. Then the grandkids come and it starts all over again with them. It is all good though. love the grands

Q: Will we look rude and cheap if we give this as Christmas gifts?
My husband and I are on a tight budget this year and we're not going to have much money to spend on Christmas gifts. The only person we are planning on buying a gift for is my 6 year old brother and we were going to give homemade, frosted sugar cookies and homemade chocolate dipped pretzels to everyone else (our parents, grandparents and adult siblings). I saw some pretty Christmas tins at the dollar store to put them in.
Will we look cheap and rude doing this? We really can't afford to spend much this year.
A: I would say no, especially if your family knows about your situation. But I would find some other little things to show that you put effort into the gifts. My mom has a big family and didn't really want to spend money on everyone so she did a cookie in a jar (has all the dry ingredients) they loved it.
Q: Does anyone know of a Christmas program to help get my son gifts?
I am looking for a program that will help me get my son some Christmas gifts. We don't have the money to go out and buy him gifts. We barley have enough to cover our bills. I feel so horrible for this but due to my high risk pregnancy and my husband attending college full time we had to go on a fixed income through the state. We reside in Athens, Ohio that is in Athens County. If anyone could help me find this I would be truly blessed thanks alot ~Crystal
A: Salvation Army, Toys for Tots, Catholic Charities are a few I can think of. I would also check with your local police department. In houston there is a program with the police department. I would start calling around to charities as soon as possible. Due to the economic situation these programs are really filling up.
Q: I am making christmas gifts this year but I have no clue what to make my nephews?
This year for christmas I decided to make my gifts I know what I'm going to make for my neices but I have no clue what to make my nephews ages 4, 3, 2, & 7 months.
A: Something cute for the four year old could be writing a book (doesn't have to be professional looking) that is person to him. (With him as the main character). Maybe for the three year old too. (Depends on how interested in books he is.) The two year old might like a homemade pillow or blanket, (again, depends on his interest.) The 7 month old might like this as well. Hope this helps...
