Q: Suggestions for keeping kittens from chewing on the lights on a Christmas tree? Very worried about the cords!
Our tree is a fake one that already has the lights strung throughout it. I know that if we had a different kind we could probably take off some lower branches. I was just hoping to find someone who had some experience with this. We want the kittens to have a safe first Christmas! Thanks for your help!!
A: There is this stuff at pet stores, I think its called bitter apple, that works really well. It doens't hurt the pet, it just tastes awful. Go to your local pet store and ask, and they'll probably give you several options of things to use that are similar, too.
Q: how long do you keep your christmas tree up?
for the past 2 years, i've gone until easter. i just like the lighting of the room with the christmas tree lights on. are there any specific dates/rules that the christmas tree must be taken down by a certain date?
thanks in advance!
A: I put it up at the beginning of December and take it down New Years Day
Q: why is that cats like to sleep under the christmas tree when the lights are on?
???my cat does that every year! does yours?
A: The lights pn the tree may be radiating heat. Cats love warm places so that's probably why your cat is under the tree. You might want to check those lights, however, because most Christmas lights burn cool so as not to be a fire hazard!! For safety sake, make sure the lights are not hot to the touch. If they are, you might just want to replace them with a newer set that burns cool.
Q: Icicles lights to decorate indoor christmas tree?
Has anyone used Icicles lights to decorate their indoor christmas tree? I had a feeling that they would look nice, but before I bought the lights thought i would ask if anyone has done so before. I have a 7ft full white christmas tree.
Thanks

Outdoor Icicles lights for indoor christmas tree
A: .
Dear Jayla,
It is my understanding that the use of "Outdoor Icicle Lights" used on Indoor Trees are the cause of many Holiday fires. Especially if they are of the "older type" and those that even bubble.
As they were designed for outdoor use the ambient temperature is not as high as in your living room.
Unless you have access to some sort of Modern LED Icicles, I think you should pass on it.
There may be safer "Indoor Icicle Lights" but I have not heard of them . . .
Hope this is helpful.
May your holidays be happy, safe and warm!

Q: christmas tree lights?
My lights work only half way on my tree, I have tried to replace the next in line, it does nothing, any ideas?....I have also replaced lights which are in the unlit part with ones that work, the lights seem fine.
A: Some light strings are wired so that if 1 light goes out the rest will stay lit, making it easier to find a burned out bulb. Some are still wired so that if 1 bulb goes out,the entire string goes out and you will have to find and replace the bulb that went out.
However since all the lights are out,but new bulbs work,it is possible that all the filiments inside the bulbs have either burned out or the light string has been dropped at some point and the filiments were broken.
You can get light testers that use a 9 volt battery to check lights and there are testers that check several things including the fuse if you light string has one.
You can get them almost any where that sell Xmas decorations.
Q: Do you leave your Christmas tree lights on all day and all night...?
...or do you just turn them on after dark?
A: Never..only in the evening until bed time.
Not just because of the safety factor either.
Its because I hope no strand will burn out before Christmas day
Q: I am making a Christmas tree out of Christmas lights. The base of the tree is 3.1m long. So how high should it?
be so it looks right?
A: At least 1 1/2 times as high
Q: Which store (Walmart, Lowes, Home Depot, etc) has the best price on Christmas tree lights?
A: Lowes has the best prices, plus their product is much better than Wal Mart. I did some price comparison shopping on line and most of the testimonials on the Wal Mart site complained that the lights didn't work. I went to Home Depot and Lowes and found that Lowes had the best prices -- on LED lights, no less!
Merry Christmas!
p.s. you may have a hard time finding them, though -- supplies are very low. Home Depot had lights for 2.49 per 100 light strand, Lowes had the same lights for 2.39.
Q: How do I make my lights blink on my Christmas tree?
This may sound like a silly question. This is the first year that I decorated extensively. I am finally in a "nicer" apartment and I wanted to get in the Christmas spirit by decorating. Do you have to buy certain kind of lights? or can you get a "blinker?" Thanks for your help.
A: All light sets come with a little packet of replacement lights - usually taped to the end of the string. One or two in the package will be half red/clear - that is your blinker light. Put the blinker light at the end or beginning of the string - only so you can find it when the blinker drives you or a loved one stark raving mad.
Some specialty light sets have an attachment to make the lights fade gradually or "chase" each other - those are cool.
Q: Best place to buy Christmas tree lights?
A: wal mart
k mart
big lots
lowes
homo depot
target
Q: How to string lights on a christmas tree?
So how do I do this? It's my first time putting them up and I have a vague idea of how to get them up. One end has a plug and the other end has a socket.
So which end goes up first?
A: The female end goes up first. Work from the top down or down to the top. Read the warning lables to see how many strands you can stab in together. Its usually 3.
Why have you never helped put up lights??
Q: Christmas Tree Lights..on or off while away at work?
Do you leave your tree plugged in when you leave the house or unplug them? It's an artificial tree.
I think its ok to leave them on. My husband things its a fire hazard.
Thanks....it looks like OFF is the answer!
A: Leave them off. It is a fire hazard. It's also a serious waste of electricity.

A: Troubleshoot series run lights- These can be a real pain to troubleshoot considering none of the lights will be illuminated, so finding the blown bulb can be tricky. I would first recommend laying the string end to end along a soft carpeted surface. Now quickly inspect the wiring to make sure there is no obvious breaks. If you find a damaged wire, fix it by cutting the damaged section out evenly and splicing together the new joint. If you found no damaged wire, you now have to check each bulb on the string.
When a bulb blows it sometimes leaves a dark or discolored surface. I would look along the lights for an obvious blown bulb and replace it. If you see no obvious faults on your light strand, then at this point you would have to replace each bulb one at a time, and see if it will light up after each bulb change. Of course you will have to decide if this would be worth the time, and I would certainly consider purchasing a new set of holiday lights instead.
