There really isnt anything 'Christmasy' about them, but I'd still like to beat my neighbor for tastelessness. He still has rotting pumpkins in HIS yard. Truth is, they look better now then ever did. Scary.
A: Take them down next November. Leave them down until December 28, then put them back up again. You can be the crazy neighbor everyone loves to talk about.

Q: Christmas outside lights?
I have some christmas lights outside on my house. Recently it has been raining and the extintion cords are wetting the lights. The lights were working before this rain. I have tripped the lights on the switch and nothing no lights. Could it be the rain on the extension cords that are wet. Please need advise!!!
A: I put out a large number of external lights and moving decorations at my house, when it rains the water gets in the connections and this often causes my GFCI protected outlets to trip. Before the lights will work again I must reset the master GFCI outlet. If you have GFCI external plugs you will have a master plug somewhere in the house or garage. The main plug normally has 2 lights, green (okay), orange (tripped). If you find the orange light on just push the rest button on the plug. If you don't have GFCI outlets then I would check your breaker box for tripped breakers. You can also test the plugs for power by plugging in another device like a portable radio.
Q: How can I put christmas lights outside when I don't have a plug outside?
I also have big windows and so can't use an extension code! (anybody can get in)
i have not porch lights outside.....
sorry ikno this is a dumb question! Please suggest some ways!
A: Hire an electrician to put a plug outside!!
Q: How long do you keep your Christmas lights outside lit up at night?
After Christmas is over, how long do you keep turning on your lights (e.g.: 1 week, 2 weeks, 1 day, etc.)?
A: Until the children return to school .. then I start pulling down the light strings, cleaning them .. making sure that all bulbs work, and put them away for the next season.
Which means -- the first full week of January is when I do all this work to take them down and put them away.
Q: Survey: Will today be the day that I get zapped while plugging in the outside Christmas lights?
I'd REALLY like it to be today.
A: Why do you want to smell like fried bacon, Val?
Q: best way to hang christmas lights outside?
I am having the worst time using duct tape to hang my lights, they keep falling down and its just not working out. Whats the best way to hang christmas light outside without them falling down? Any other method?
wow thanks to all of you for the quick response! I'll try your ideas!
A: Clark Griswold used a staple gun, but you could purchase special hooks to hang them from gutters or eaves. It all depends on what you want to do, but I would start with looking at the work of pros at sites like the Tacky Light Tour at http://www.tackylighttour.com
Q: I need some cool ideas about christmas lights outside.?
I have a main tree in front yard as focal point....then on back I have 4 more smaller trees..
I usually put colored lights on main tree and then all white on back trees.
Just looking for different ideas ... I hate doing the same thing every year.
A: Since u have been using x-mas lights every year why not use another decorative element this time?
I think solar lamps can light up the trees and its features in an arresting manner.
Try installing some angels, pixies or a reindeer on the roof for a whimsical touch.
A novelty doorknock or a large urn overflowing with x-mas novelties by the door is also unusual and still feels festive in a new way.
Hope this helps...
Q: Can someone please give me ideas on how to put my christmas lights outside when I don't have a plug out there?
This might be a dumb question, but I really want to put lights up outside this year and I don't want to use an extension cord and have to run it under my door (unless this is safe?) Thanks! : )
A: do you have a light outside? they make adapters with electrical outlets on them that you can screw into a light instead of a bulb.
Q: Are you going to put up your christmas lights outside this year and buy your own tree ?
Christmas year Holiday .
A: Well were not putting anything outside because the little hoodlems will take the stuff lol and we just bought our REAL tree 2dai like every other year lol we will decorate the windows though =]
Q: outside christmas lights won't work. there's power from the outlet and my tester says the strings are?
getting power. fuses are good. checked circuit breakers and reset all gcfi outlets. I'm stumped.
A: Are your lights wired in series, the old-fashioned way? If so, a single burned-out bulb will disable the entire string and the only fix is to replace each bulb in sequence. Fun!
If the lights are more modern, with shunts to avoid the one-bad-bulb problem, you may have an even worse time. You will have to examine each socket (with power off, please) to make sure good contact is being made. More Fun!
At this point, many people would trash the old string and buy a new one. Merry Christmas!
