Q: I need a computer program for makinf ornaments?
Okay, I would like the program to have detail and be able to do diagrams. I make beaded Christmas ornaments and need to be able to make beads that can be placed on a large ball (or other shape) and give enough detail to see how many beads are a pin, or the size/shape of the bead. Everytime I find a link to such a program I find out the site is gone. Please help.
A: That sounds frustrating, to find a good site and then have it disappear. Google "ornament bead pattern". When you find one you like, use your mouse to copy and paste it into a document that you save in your computer.
Q: Making 'Edible' Christmas Ornaments?
I'm wondering if anyone knows some awesome edible Christmas tree ornament ideas. I have a bunch that my grandma made like 30 years ago, and some of them are falling apart!! I would really like to keep this look alive and add some things to my stash that I already have. She gave me things like Pretzel and redhot snowflakes, icecream cones with styrofoam ball 'icecream' tops, gingerbread men, lollipops, some different things like plastic looking cherries with big hunks of sugar glued onto them. All of these are sprayed with Shelac to last for a while. Unfortunately some of them are breaking. Does anyone have any good ideas? or know any good website suggestions to make some new ornaments?
I'm not looking to eat these ornaments when they're done. Just making them look edible and such. The theme of the tree is like all sorts of sweets. "candyland" kind of.
A: Well I don't know much about preserving real food items to use as ornaments (except for *gingerbread" ones, often made with applesauce as one ingrdient, that really aren't that tasty to eat--see below), but you can make fake food that's quite believable with various clays--particularly with polymer clay.
If you're interested in making faux foods of all kinds (including gingerbread figures, candies, and much more) with polymer clay, check out these pages at my website:

And for Christmas and ornaments in particular, check out this page:

(...click especially on the category *Cutter Shapes* perhaps)
P.S. Here are a bunch of recipes for the gingerbread ornaments that are made from real food, but aren't all that tasty if actually eaten:

Have fun, and love what you're doing... my great aunt used to make fancy eggshell ornaments for us long ago that I have a special attachment to.

Q: What does your Christmas tree look like?
Mine is white with multi color lights. The balls and the icycles are multi color too, lime green, teal blue, pink, and red. It has three John Deer ornaments, and my kids yearly christmas ornaments, 12 to be exact. And the "Star" is actually a black and white camouflage fishing hat with the John Deer Symbol on it. Its pretty, especially at night when the sun has gone down. How about yours?!!
A: Yours sounds pretty ...I havent bought one yet I want a fake one but my daughter always wants a REAL one.....My cat loves them all he loves to knock down the decorations !
the fake ones have those fiber optic lights their SOOO Cool.........
Q: Can anyone tell me how to make the" Basket of Light" Christmas centerpiece?
I am looking for instructions to make these baskets-- either with glass ball ornaments or pinecones, I know what to put in the baskets, but I need step by step instructions on assembling them.
A: This site shows how to make a "basket of light" Christmas centerpiece. It has a picture of the finished basket and it's quite pretty:

A Basket of Light filled with pinecones. This is a quick project that you will enjoy making.
Materials:
1 willow basket
pinecones cones.
6 fresh pine sprays
100 clear indoor lights (brown cord)
3 poinsettia stems
1 1/2 yards of wire edged ribbon
Instructions
1. Fill half the basket with pine cones
2. Place your string of 100 mini lights in the basket. Be sure to put the plugged end over the back of the basket so that you don't loose track of it later.
3. Add more pine cones (pulling sections of your lights upward so that you don't cover them all with cones)
4. Add pine sprays to the basket. Using them to camouflage the strings from the lights.
5. Add your ribbon bow.
Q: How many Christmas tree balls were in the big bowl in the department store?
It was one of those silly guessing games for a prize. How many Christmas tree balls were in the big bowl in the department store? Surprisingly, there were only five guesses. Jim was five under, Susan was two under, Willy was the winner, Jack was one over, and Alice was six over. The numbers were: 26, 15, 18, 21, and 20. How many ornaments were in the bowl?
A: I'd say 20.
Q: Christmas ornaments~Army theme?
My sister and I both have sons in the Army. One in Iraq, one in Afghanistan, and one about to deploy. We both want to do an Army/American Pride tree. Any ideas for ornaments? We are already knee deep in yellow ribbons, and camo balls. Also, an idea for a tree topper. Thanks.
A: why not get your sons' unit patches and put hooks on them for ornaments; you can add interest to the patch ornaments by adding a small red, white, or blue bow at the top; also, if the boys (men) have received any ribbons you can duplicate them on your tree; don't forget to make photo ornaments of the guys in and out of uniform; please send the guys my thanks and best wishes
Q: Where can I find clear Christmas balls to decorate?
Other than Michael's, it's REALLY far away from where I live. It doesn't matter if the balls are glass, plastic or acrylic I just want to decorate with my kids and can't find the right ornaments.
I went to Michael's website and it says all purchases must be made at a store, which I can't get to. how do I order anything?
A: find a xmas specality store, unfortunatly they dont open till its closer to xmas
Q: Ladies my christmas tree is very stiff?
Because you are in a better position to answer this question then most men, what would you do?
Poll: shake the balls(ornaments), water the tree, both?
A: don't worry baby, I know exactly how to handle that stiff tree of yours....and I say both, definitely both
Q: Trying to locate 4" christmas balls, any idea?
I have searched and can't find any plain round glass or plastic ornaments that I can purchase inexpensively to decorate.
A: Give Michael's a try-- they have classes using them for Christmas-- and may have them year around.
good luck
Q: My theme of an elegant blue, silver and white centerpiece for christmas party?
snowfakes, in silver royal blue and white. with candle and ball ornaments
A: Sounds beautiful. One more added shiny item might be to place square mirrors under the candles so all the shine is reflected. Oh and dim the lights a little.
