Q: How many of you put your photos in scrapbooks? And how many of you are scrapbookers?
There's a big difference... which do you do?
A: I do both and also what I call travel journals that are sort of a combination of a photo albumn and scrapbook. I've travelled extensively and just cannot bear to throw away anything I've picked up along the way. So, I keep concert, museum, castle, ticket stubs, beautiful bills from the hotels, wine labels and corks, postcards, even the little paper they put under coffee cups in Europe. I write in the journal while I am on the trip and then leave several pages blank to collage my findings once I get home. Since most scrapbooks are too large to keep in my carryon, I use the blank books found at stationery and bookstores.
But, then I ususally have a lot of photos which I sort into ones for the photoalbumn and one for the scrapbook. The scrapbook is more for public view on my coffeetable and the photoalbumn is more personal for me and my hubby to enjoy, but doesn't have photos of wide enough interest to anyone else but us! (Like my hubby's obsession with taking pictures of doors and balconies all over the world.)
Q: Is there a perfect ink for rubber stamping cards & scrapbooks?
Can anybody recommend a good ink that can be used for making cards and scrapbooks? Is there really a "perfect" ink? I have started to get into rubber stamping with Stampin Up and I know everybody recommends their own brands but is there any you can buy @ Michael's or Hobby Lobby that's just as good and can be used for both purposes? Thanks for all who answer
A: Yes, in my opinion there is!
Ranger Industries Archival Brand ink.
It comes in a lot of colors, it is permanent on even shiny surfaces like jewel cases when dry, the image can be colored with water or oil based medium without smearing, and the body of the ink doesn't fill the crevices of your stamp so you get excellent image retention with your highly detailed stamps.
I don't sell the stuff, I just use it almost exclusively. It is ok to so-so for embossing, I find that it dries too fast in low humidity to allow the embossing powder to stick. I haven't tried spritzing the air in my work area to see if this helps yet.
All in all, a good ink, downside for some applications, some of the colors can be sticky, which can tear lightweight paper.
Here is my write up on some simple stamping tips, most you already know, but I talk about Archival brand inks here too:

Good luck, and keep stamping!

Q: Why are scrapbooks called SCRAPbooks if what people put in them are memorable or important stuff?
A: Scrapbooks originally started out as Memory Books where people would keep things such as ticket stubs, newspaper articles, cards, wrappers etc. from special events. Over the years it developed into a craft or hobbie with mainly pictures, paper and embellishments. Today it is a multi million dollar empire.
Q: Where can I buy old-fashioned scrapbooks?
I would like to put all of the cards I received
for my wedding into a scrapbook, but I have noticed that the new scrapbooks have blank pages inside page protectors. I want to post
the cards on the pages without any page protectors so people can open the cards and read them. I would appreciate any advice.
A: You can buy a Creative Memories album as the page protectors are sold separately. They have "strap" style albums and they can be custom printed on the cover if you want. They are a direct sales company, so you have to find a consultant to help you. They have good quality stuff and you will be happy with it.

You can look at this site and see if they have something you can use. They have nice stuff too.

I do have a concern if you do not use page protectors and that would be that the cards would rub together over time and create wear. What if you attach the cards to the page, photo copy the inside of the card and attach it next to the card and then slip it into a page protector? That way you can still view the card, read it and it will be protected. Just a thought.
Good luck! :)
Q: What do you do with the photos that don't make it into your scrapbooks or albums?
Do you throw them away?
A: Many stores sell cardboard file boxes for photos. I file them by date so I can find them easily in the future and keep the negatives with them if I have them. They don't take much room and my kids will appreciate them someday I'm sure. When my mother didn't want her photos anymore, she divided all of them however she wanted and mailed us photos of our childhood. We loved it but wished we had more of our siblings.
Q: How many scrapbookers use sheet protectors for their scrapbooks?
A: I do because I want my pages to be protected. My daughters like to look at their scrapbooks and there is no telling what might be on their little fingers, so sheet protectors are the only way to go!
Q: Making Journaling pieces for my scrapbooks?
I have all this spare paper from one of those one-pound scrap packs that I want to use to make journaling pieces as well as a bunch of nice patterned paper in varying sizes and colors. Any ideas and advice is helpful and welcome.
I'm trying to reduce my clutter and save money instead of buying the pre-made stuff.
A: type your journaling on the computer, then run the paper through the printer....then stamp if you want. Or run through the printer just to make lines to write on.
Q: Where can i find wholesale scrapbooks for my wedding. Since my passion is scrapbooking, i thought that along?
with a disposable camera at thier place setting would be a great way for them to capture the moment and keep them somewhere nice. Thanks!
A: The disposable camera is for them to take candids to give to you. Most people don't save mementos of a wedding unless it's their own or their childrens. You wouldn't ask your guests to pay for developing on the disposable camera.
You could do your own personal version of the bridal quilt, which is to give everyone a page and supplies, and let them create a page for you.
Unfortunately, you won't be able to buy wholesale without a tax number from your state, unless you can convince a local craft shop owner to front for you. If you have time, you can collect discount supplies on sale wherever you see them, especially odd-lot stores.
Q: I have my grandparents' 19 scrapbooks of world travel, is anyone interested in them--they're amazing!?
My grandfather was an accomplished chemist and lectured all over the world, allowing my grandparents to travel. They were both scientists at heart, documenting every detail of travel and daily life over their trips from 1952-1997. These albums are amazing and being wasted sitting in a closet unseen. Is there a world history or world cultures teacher out there who would use them? How about a travel history professor? Help! What could I do with these priceless pieces of history!?!??! Highlights include menus from the Andrea Dora, receipts from every economy, detailed travel logs, recipes, etc.
A: Contact the Smithsonian Museum. They have been doing a very fascinating thing with just such pictures all last month.
They had pictures of the first automobiles, steam engines, people in clothing of the 18 century. I am sure they would love these. Also you can ask that your Grandparents names be put on the exhibit. Example, from the estates of Dr. and Mrs, bla bla, given by Miss Jane Smith. Or from the travels of Dr. and Dr. etc
I would save one thing, the menu of the Andrea Dora, the next time the Antiques Roadshow comes close to your city, take the menu and show them. I am sure it is worth quite a lot. Also, you can loan these scrapbooks, to the museum, if you do decide to keep them.
Q: How much is background paper for scrapbooks at Hobby Lobby?
colored paper
A: You can buy packaged paper for as little as $3.00 and up. I guess it all depends if you are buying single sheets or packages. Single sheets are $0.10 up to $0.25
Q: Where can I find a site for do it yourself baby scrapbooks how to?
A: There are kits at craft stores that you can purchase for that.
Q: Protective sheet in scrapbooks, keep it or tear it out?
I'm beginning to scrapbook. Can somebody tell me if those sheets in scrapbooks are suppose to me torn out or kepted to protect?
A: They are meant to protect your work from sticking to the opposite page or catching on something on the opposite page leave them there.
Q: who else makes scrapbooks out there?
got any tips or tricks for me? i learned today that you can use baby wipes to fade the corners of pictures to make them look old. im really intrested in doing this ,so any help or suggestions id appreciate it.
A: Be sure that you are using duplicates if you use baby wipes..i think that will eventually cause distortion to the entire picture causing it to deteriorate.
My favorite tip is when using rubons keep them in the original package and just cut out the rubon you need. That way the rest dont come apart.and you dont put on the protective backing on the wrong way.
Q: Finding nice templates for scrapbooks and announcement cards?
Does anyone know where I can find nice and unique templates for scrapbooks and announcement cards(eg. baby announcement, engagement announcement) that are free?
A: Yeah, Microsoft gives free temps for it's various programs. It's an easy search on google.
Q: Are there any bigger scrapbooks?
I love to scrapbook and now I cant fit anymore pages in mine. Are giant scrapbooks made so that everything can fit together? or do I have to have multiple books?
A: I haven't found any that can hold more pages either. I think because it would get too heavy and begin to damage the pages that are already in there by squashing them.
These are a couple of 3-ring binder kind, you can email and see how many pages they can hold:
