Q: Thin scrapbook album?
Are there scrapbook album's that aren't thick in width? I just want to do 10 pages and send through mail as a birthday gift, so I don't want it to be too bulky. Or any suggestions of how I could bind the pages together and make it look neat.
A: Yes there are mini and thin scrapbooks. They do not look like albums. check out scrapbooking stores and the larger book stores for them.
The blue one, the first one on the page would be perfect. So would this one on page 3

Q: Scrapbook help? Can't figure out how to add pages to my expandable album?
Ordered an album from ebay. It clearly states "Expanding library spine allows you to add pages & protectors in the future to add to your album. " My only problem is that I can't figure out how to add pages. I bought a universal refillable pages kit from walmart, which came with 10 plastic covers, 10 white pages, four grey things with the holes, and 3 little screws. Can you help me out? It looks like theres room for the cover to expand, but I see no screws.
A: Open the back cover. There should be a piece that covers the screws, usually held in place by magnets. Simply unscrew, add more posts (those screw like things) if needed, add the page protectors, and put it all back together.
Most expandable scrapbooks can extend to 2" thick, but I would recommend not going that deep.
(It will make sense if you're reading the directions while trying them out on your scrapbook.)
If all else fails, go to a local crafts store like Michael's.
Q: If your were going to make a scrapbook album for a friends wedding? What color would you choose??
The only color they don't have is white.
Any color ideas??
The wedding is going to be in the Napa Valley.
The Napa Valley is in Ca. And The wedding is in late march!
What do you think of the color of Champagne for a color?
A: If you know her colors, then that would be a great option... But I do like the Champange color, it sort of like toasting to her wedding with a champange color album.Natural colors are safe.
Q: I want to make a sentimental scrapbook for my older brother, do you have any links to a good album?
My brother is going off to college next fall and I want to scrapbook some memories so that he can look at it whenever he gets homesick, but I can't find a scrapbook on the internet that is, I don't know, mature enough. HELP!!
A: it's all in the papers you use. if you use some browny, blue combos and no pink you should be fine. limit the embellishments to be tasteful to.
I would make either a chipboard album or maybe a cd tin album and not make it so lumpy bumpy.
check out some ideas here at scrapbook-crazy for small mini scrapbook albums.

Q: can you help me with ideas or web sites to make my photo album? any scrapbook ideas?
A: You will have to look up scrapbook sites there are so many. could not give you all the names. but I have looked them and there are some great ones with great ideas
Q: I am making a Michigan themed scrapbook. Does anyone know where I can find an album that is Michigan themed?
I was thinking about a book with the state embossed on it.
A: I agree with what several folks have already said about the album. I would buy a plain good quality album, and then add my own state emblem/map/etc. to the cover. This would really make it yours. It would be as simple has printing the state map onto cardstock and then matting it. I like to use the redliner Accentz tape to adhere stuff like this--it holds great. You can even add a state pin to it, too.
You can also check out a local scrapbook store for papers/die cuts/license plates, etc. by state. There's lots of these around, and if you go to one that is a locally-owned store, you might have better selection, otherwise, on-line stores.
Another resource for you is your own backyard--literally. One of the neat things about the digital age is being able to use close up shots of flora and fauna for specialty mats and backgrounds. It's easy to do, and not very time consuming. Check into the local chamber of commerce for items, too, and postcards. Make a collage of them on your scanner and you have another custom background to use. Print these on cardstock or photo paper.
Great ideas, everyone!

Q: what kind of album do i need to scrapbook and should i get one with rings or what??
thinking about starting scrapbooking and i've heard that the book is the most important part....
like the type of pages, size and how you can add other pages...like rings or some other way!
thanks!
A: Hey there, I also agree that you shouldn't use ringed albums, use the type that are called "post-bound" albums, they are usually a little more money, but are worth it. Here are a few more tips:
-12x12 sizes work best so you can fit more pictures and embellishments on a page.
-Use paper and embellishments that are lignin free (lignin yellows over time) and acid free (acid can break down and ruin your photos over time) - most scrapbooking products will state this on the package. In addition to this, most fabrics (like ribbon and lace) are safe to use too. Don't try to cut costs by using children's stickers, construction paper, etc because these will fade over time and can ruin your photos.
-store your album in a dry place at room temperature. They can be ruined by direct sunlight, heat (like leaving them in your car), and moisture (a damp basement)
-Use albums that have pages that slide into page protector sleeves - DONT use magnetic albums (those sticky type of pages that you peel open and then press closed over the photo) these fade and discolour photos - trust me, I've found this out the hard way!
That's all I can think of for now, hope this helps!
Q: Scrapbook album difficulty?
I'm making a book of quotes, a project for my literature class on Pride and Prejudice. I wanted to make a handmade album but the pages must be 8 x 10 at least. I was wondering if anybody had any ideas...I thought about paper bags, but I didn't know if that would be a good idea for Pride and Prejudice. Please help!
A: For hand made albums of different types go to the web site below.
Once there at the top right click on Resources.
Once the page comes up click on Projects.
This will sort out the techniques from the projects. Each project has a tutorial so you can make it yourself.
You can click on the Gallery for any of the projects and you will see what other people made.
Just a note here that the projects you will see are likely decorated with card stock and decorative paper some of which is 2 sided. These can be found at Michael's or Joanne's or other craft stores or at a stamp store or a scrapbooking store.
The 2nd web site shows how to make a paper bag book. It was posted on Jan 30. She has a video that shows what she did.
I hope this helps.
Q: Ideas for a photo album/scrapbook for someone who just passed away??
My uncle just passed away leaving three young children, and no mother. The family wants to make a scrapbook of the little photos we have of him and them...We need some ideas! Is there anywhere that sells something that can get us started? We don't want just a plain old photo album.
Any websites with pictures? Explanations?
Please take your time on this one, we really need help and I'm not finding much....
Thanks!
Kids are 12, 6, and 5.....We want this to mean something when they get older, but still appeal to them now.
A: Sorry about your uncle. You are doing something so special!
I have a few ideas to share. There are tons of albums available at the craft store or scrapbook store in your area. You can also order some online that can be personalized. Really, the sky is the limit. There are different sizes for these too.... 8 1/2 x 11, 12 x 12 and various other sizes. You need to decide on what size you want. (I like Creative Memories albums but you have to order them from a consultant as they are a direct sales company. Check out www.creativememories.com for a consultant near you. If you get a "good" consultant, they may offer classes or help you with laying out your book.)
For ease, I would do one page as my master and make all the other pages similar. This will help you complete it quicker and will flow nicely when done.
There are many, many ways to do a book. You can take classes at the craft store, buy a book with sample layouts or browse the internet for layouts.
Here are some tips to get you started:
-First gather all of the photos that you can. Check with some of his friends and other relatives for photos as you never know who has what picture!
-Sort the photos into groups and begin making the sections you want.
-Make lists of what your uncle liked, disliked, hobbies, cars he had, home he lived in, friends names, family names, work places, etc.. You can make pages for these kinds of things. They don't need pictures but you can still capture the memory by writing it down.
-Have family members write down their special memories of your uncle. These could be included with or without pictures. Be sure to have your nieces include all of their special memories!
-Include a page of his birthdate and name too. Where he went to school, things like that. You basically want to do his life story.
-Try to get copies of his birth certificate and marriage certificate. You can make copies of these to include so you don't harm the original.
Remember, you can do pages just of journaling and "lists" and you don't have to have a picture on it. You can find all different kind of embellishments (stickers, die cuts, etc) for many themes too as the craft/scrapbook store.
When done, you can photo copy the pages at the copy store and make one for each niece if you want each to have a copy.
There is also another option, and that is to make a photo book. You can do this online at sites like www.shutterfly.com, www.photoworks.com, www.snapfish.com, etc. You upload your pictures and inlcude any text that you want. The books comes just like a book, all bound and everything. Very professional looking. Just another idea.
Best of luck! Hope to have helped some. Have fun and enjoy the memories. :)

Q: I was wondering for people that sit down and scrapbook albums, would photoshop be used for anything other?
than changing the way your pictures look and scrapbooking on the computer? I guess what I am trying to ask is if you create a scrapbook page on the computer, is there a way to retrieve that page and enter it into a photo album you actually hold in your hands?
A: Yeah, all you have to do is print the page.
Q: Making a .... Scrapbook/photo book/album?
I ordered a couple 4x6 and 5x7 photos for christmas presents and I want to create a small little scrapbook/photo book/album type thing to put them in, but I have no idea how to do any of the three. I need it to be something where I can use things around the house because I cannot go out and buy anything...does anyone have any ideas or sites that could help me out? Help is much appreciated, thanks
A: You can make really pretty albums with stuff you have around the house.
First, take 2 pieces of cardboard just a little bigger than your photo. Set them down one on top of the other and tape up one end to make a spine. Use a nice wide tape.
Glue or tape plain paper to the inside covers, or use old wrapping paper or greeting cards - anything smooth.
On the outside, make paper mache medium out of white glue with water, or use decoupage medium if you have any - and tear up bits of crepe paper, tissue paper, paper napkins, even flower petals - whatever you have that's pretty. Bunch them up on the front and back of the album and slather them with the glue.
After that's dry, cut 2 sheets of plain paper to the same size as your photo or a tiny bit bigger, but still the same size but double the width so that you can fold each sheet to make 2 pages. Open your album and place the open pages on top of it.
With a large needle, run some ribbon through all layers, including the spine of the book. Now you can mount your picture and whatever else you would like, onto the 8 pages. I wish I had some pictures for you but I just thought it up!

Q: Scrapbook or Photo album?
Ok I've been debating myself whether to choose the two. So I had thousands of photos stack in the boxes right now. So which is better Scrapbook or photo album? I've wanted to make a scrapbook to add design but I want to hear your opinions. I've sorted them chronological order.
A: Depending on how much money you want to spend you could scrapbook and make it personal but if you don't want to spend alot of money then you should make a photo album. My auntie would put quotes below the pictures in her photo album and it looked wonderful.
Q: Best way to hold pictures in place in a photo album?
I'm putting together a photo album and bought a regular photo album/scrapbook at an arts store. The pages inside are the regular ones where you place the photo in between the plastic and the paper behind it, but of course the pictures won't stay in place. What's the best way to hold the pictures in place in the album?
A: Head to Hobby Lobby or Michael's and go to their scrapbooking section. Where they have adhesives, you'll find double-sided tape and photo mounting squares. Make sure that you buy acid-free tape otherwise it'll ruin your photos!
Q: Scrapbooking, I'm a rookie...is a memory album the same as a scrapbook?
This may sound stupid but, are memory albums the same as scrapbooks? I thought scrapbooks had a paper page, not a plastic sheet protector. My Mom bought me a bunch of scrapbooking supplies for Christmas & included 3 memory albums. She got them from Hobby Lobby. They are expandable post bound pages, they are acid, lignin & PVC free and they each have 10 clear sheet protectors. I was just wondering because they're not "called" scrapbooks. Plus, they were fairly inexpensive & I've seen that scrapbooks are pretty pricey. I've never done ANY scrapbooking & I'd appreciate any tips anyone can offer! Like, can I print my own pictures or should I order reprints? Yeah, obviously I'm a rookie...
Thanks for any advice!
j
A: Yes, they are the same, the plastic sheet protectors are for protecting the pictures. Scrap-booking can be overwhelming, so take your time.
Set up a place, preferably a table that is out of the way and can be left there till you are finished. This sounds strange, but if it is there and ready to go, you will get more done in less time.
Now get organized. Have everything you need within your grasp so that you can really get going. That includes your photos. Get them organized as well, however you like, by date, or by birthday, vacation, whatever. Throw away any blurred or just plain "bad" photos as they detract from the album. Also, give away duplicates as they will confuse you. You will begin to wonder whether or not you have used them.
Also, if possible, make a photo disc of all your photos. That way if you need one you can get it easily printed in no time at all. They are also safe, no lost negatives. Then, just toss the negatives.
Now use large white paper or your album pages to create a layout usually not more than 3 or 4 photos per page. Lay out each page till you have all the photos you want grouped together for the event. Keep doing this till you have used all the pages, this will save you much time. Then just start putting them together!
However, if you have many photos of the same function, but different poses or scenery, and you would like to use them, cut them down. There are many different types of scissors and cutting tools at you local craft store.
You can have the people cut out and place them in layers on the page. I did this when my daughters photo was great but the background was not so great. I just cut her out, and placed her on another photo for the background!
There is really no right or wrong way to do it, but remember, keep your embellishments to a minimum. It is easier on the eye, and the pocket book! Just do specialty pages every once in a while for special photos. Plus, it will take less time. You will be able to do at lest a couple of pages a day this way and your album will be finished in no time at all.
My daughters album is great but hard to look at because it is overwheming to the eye. I did many colorful layouts with lots of embelshiments, it took a full year to complete. That is why it helps to keep embellishments to a minimum.
Oh by the way, be sure to use an archival quality pen to journal with. That way it won't turn wierd colors and ruin your hard work. Journaling is a great way to preserve your memories and to share them as well.
Scrapbooking is fun and great to share with others, there are many scrapbooking classes to join. This helps you learn many different styles and about new tools and tricks to creating great albums.
Well, hope this helps, good luck with your new adventure!
