Q: Does anyone know of a site that gives a lot of scrapbook page layouts?
I'm a scrapbooking virgin, and would like to look at some example layout pages as ideas. Can anyone suggest a site or two? Thanks, much!!

A: Allow me to assist in deflowering you. I would get a mag or two first. Those are great for inspiration and ideas. Even many of the libraries would let you check out back issues for free. Since I know you are going to Disney, I am putting links for some ideas for those kinds of themed pages.. http://www.disneyzone.net/pages.htm http://scrapbooking.about.com/library/weekly/aa111504b.htm Good how to start article http://scrapbooking.about.com/cs/gshowtos/a/supplies.htm http://scrapbook.lifetips.com/cat/65441/disney-scrapbooks/index.html http://www.scrapbooking101.net/articles/march2008disneypages.html http://www.scrapjazz.com/topics/Themes/Travel/1104.php Also, check your local scrapbooking store for ideas and inspiration. They often have old mags you can sit and look through as well. (they are expensive to buy)

Q: could you give me some wedding scrapbook ideas?
I am making a scrapbook for my mom of her wedding for christmas could you please post some of your wedding scrapbook layout pictures please

A: Check out "Once upon a family" ...it's a website that actually sells scrapbooks for this sort of thing, where it prompts you to include details and keepsakes from special occasions. They are really beautiful-and they might help. Otherwise, if you still want to do it on your own, buy some really beautiful wedding themed paper and little add ons, and include pages for the getting ready, waiting, guests arriving, ceremony, getaway, arrival at the reception, the reception (and all the details in there!), and perhaps include poems about love written by hand, winding throughout the photos, so there is a link that binds-you could even use their original vows instead, or lyrics of their wedding song...

Q: Scrapbook ideas?
i am making a scrapbook for my daughters 1st year. I need some good creative ideas for layouts. I know that there are a lot of sites, so i was wondering if anyone could look up their favorite layouts for scrapbooks so i could see specific layouts. thanks! (please show links)

A: I don't really have a "favorite", I just let the pictured dictate the layout. Here's a link for inspiration: http://www.diynetwork.com/diy/cr_scrapbooking/0,2024,DIY_13776,00.html

Q: I want to make some scrapbook pages about my cats!!?
I want to make one about all the different faces of my cats but I don't really have any ideas for layouts, but I was thinking a big picture in the middle and little pictures around it but I don't know how that would look!! Any ideas??

A: The ideas are endless...Some neat things are to take a full size photo and put it in the center and than many many small ones of his many faces ..I know you have lots of them...Maybe take a close up of his paw or ear or eye or things like that and put them around him like they are doing with kids...I have seen this many times ..Or you can put a close up of his face and than full body ones in smaller photos around it with his full body in action shots or playing or eating or things like that... Maybe take some in black and white and only have a Color one in the center... or some of him alone and than some of him with friends of yours or family members...Just a few ideas,,,Do you have cat theme stickers? maybe some of them from the dollar store put around..Oh yeh,,don't forget to cut them out with those cool scissors of all kinds of finishes ..I love having them to do different style of cuts and styles.. Another neat idea I have seen but never tried is make a Large photo of your cat and than cut it out like a puzzle and put the pieces together and maybe leave some out like some of his paw or part of his ear but have the piece close to the part so you can see where it goes with your eyes...HAVE FUN,,,use your imagination and your creativity...That's what makes each page unique...Good luck!

Q: I just bought my first scrapbook, but it's "post bound" I am not sure what to do with it or how to start
Here is a link to the album: http://www.eksuccess.com/products_detail.php?product_id=7921&sess_id=4dce8f4a056d1ca2d86849b27ca005cc I imagined a scrapbook where I would essentially be cutting and pasting. This is "post bound" and brings sheet protectors that appear very thick. I thought I took a good look at it when I opened it up, maybe a post bound album isn't so bad, but I'm still not sure how to expand it or how I am to do layouts. Do you feel the page protectors with your pages? It brings 3 post extenders (which I am assuming extend the album, right?) 10 spine spacers (how do I work these?) and 1 extended spine cover. Do you think it was a good deal? Will my scrapbook just fall apart. Also it mentions (in the features section) side loading page protectors- what does that mean exactly? It brings 10 page protectors but says it can hold up to 20.I've pulled out some info on scrapbooking online which I have printed and intend to look at. Anybody can give me advice on how to use a post bound album? As I said, I thought I was buying the kind that you crop, paste and layer onto...Is this different or better? And how do I make it a good scrapbook out of it? Thank you a bunch! Thank you ctmhmomof4, your information was great. I'll have to look up Close to My Heart as well, maybe I will email you with any questions. The advice on the screws and extenders was exactly what I was worried about. I appreciate your explaining a bunch. Thanks savememories, very helpful tips, I will keep in mind the spine extender information. That was also something that I was wondering about as Also, thank you to bonnielmountford I will try to get a look at your pages it's nice of you to offer. And the tip about the yahoo group, the pages being double sided and getting help was good too. I am new to pages and scrapping so I am going to see about some workshops or classes at any stores in my area 2. I also like to browse the two peas in a bucket website for ideas and inspiration. I don't know how layouts are done yet but I think it may be a good starting point. If anyone wants to add more info or tips or new answers, feel free.Maybe I shouldn't make my book too thick?

A: Hi! I'm a Close To My Heart Scrapbooking consultant, and we use post bound albums. I think they are the best! They are typically very easy to use. The post tend to come apart like screws you can then add pages ((page protectors), the pages will slip in the page protectors). You can also add the extenders in between the current screws, (take them apart, add extender, screw screws back together, etc.) I hope that makes since - it's easy to demonstrate, but hard to describe in words! The spine expander's, are also placed on the post. These are added to help your album pages lay flat. They are needed after "bumpy or bulky" pages that have lots of "fat" accents of accessories. You may also find that you need to add one after every 10-15 regular pages to help album stay flat.. As far as how to do layouts you want to make sure you use all acid free paper and things for you album. I also sell two great books that give step by step instructions on how to complete beautiful pages. (Cherish and Imagine). Let me know if you don't understand my replies, and I can try to explain it better! Please feel free to email me with other questions!

Q: Anyone know about digital scrapbooking?
I downloaded some free scrapbook layouts online. How do I edit the png files and drop my pics onto the page? Which program is decent and inexpensive?

A: Use CropMom to create your digital scrapbook pages. It's a much easier way to learn digital scrapbooking. CropMom was created by a digital scrapbooker, so the site is entirely geared toward digital scrapbooking. 1. Register and upload your photos. 2. Click Get Started. Choose New Layout or you can click Open Template to use a pre-made layout that is fully editable. 3. Drag and drop your photo onto the canvas. Choose graphics and drag and drop them. 4. You can select photos or graphics to rotate them and resize them. Photos can be changed to black and white or sepia tone. 5. Add text. 6. Save your layout, then go to the My CropMom page and click on it. 7. You can now: download the low-resolution version of your layout for free; share your layout via e-mail with friends or purchase the high-resolution, print-quality layout for printing at home or to have it printed by a photofinisher. It's much easier and much less expensive than purchasing a complicated graphics program to use.

Q: I am having trouble finding cardstock for my scrapbook.?
It is ladybug themed, so it is red black green and white. i know its crazy, but does anybody have any cute ideas? know of a good place to get scrapbooking stuff, any actually scrapbooking layout ideas?

A: There is a craft store called Michel's or Michael's. No it is not just a local store. There is actually a chain of them. This store has anything and everything that you could possibly need or want for any kind of craft. This store carries anything from knitting to scrapbooking. I love this store and when you go in i am sure that you will find what you are looking for. On the off chance that they don't have what you need, ask one of the employees to name a couple of other stores that may be carrying what you are looking for. Hope you find what you need!

Q: Can you give me the chinese character for "chicken"?
I am doing a scrapbook layout for a chicken dish that I tried in Beijing and I need the character for my title. Thanks.

A: Here is the Hanzi (Characters) - Pinyin (Phonetics) - English. I also gave the translation of how Chinese say chicken when refering to meat, since you are talking about a recipe. They don't just say 'chicken' like in English. Simplified Characters 鸡 - jī - chicken 鸡肉 - jī ròu - chicken meat Traditional Characters 雞 - jī - chicken 雞肉 - jī ròu - chicken meat If you are interested in the tones for pronunciation http://www.wku.edu/~shizhen.gao/Chinese101/pinyin/tones.htm Also, if you want the characters for a specific dish, you can contact me through my profile

Q: I would like to start computer scrapbooking and would like to know the best software.?
I have heard of Corel Paint shop Pro 9, Creating Keepsakes Scrapbook Designer 3, Photoshop Elements4, and Scrapbook Factory Deluxe 3.0. I would like a program with layouts and ideas but where you could make up your own too.

A: The best and most used software for make a digital scrapbook layout are: Corel Paint Shop Pro X (though Corel just released version XI), Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0, Adobe Photoshop and Microsoft Digital Image Pro. Adobe Photoshop is very expensive and has a high learning curve. Corel Paint Shop Pro is very powerful yet is reasonably priced. Many beginners start with Adobe Photoshop Elements so if they ever upgrade to Photoshop, they'll already be familiar with the controls. None of these programs come with pre-made layouts and ideas. The problem with many of the programs that do come with pre-made layouts and ideas is that they have proprietary file formats in which you can't use any of the incredible digital scrapbooking kits for sale - or for free - on the Web. You really don't need layouts and ideas with your software. You can get all of the layouts and ideas and even free digital scrapbooking kits from the several hundred digital scrapbooking sites on the Web. You can buy digital scrapbooking kits for as low as $3. Plus, many of these Web sites offer free tutorials on how to make digital scrapbook layouts using the above graphics-editing programs. Here's where to go for ideas, kits, tutorials: www.scrapbook-bytes.com (store, tutorials, forum to ask questions, gallery to see ideas, free downloads) www.digishoptalk.com (forum, gallery) www.kathrynbalint.com (store, gallery, forum, sells templates and quickpages for beginners) www.shabbyprincess.com (free downloads) www.shabbyelements.com (store, gallery, tutorials) www.digitalscrapbookplace.com (free downloads, store, gallery, online classes, forum) If you're still not happy with a graphics program that does not include ideas, then try FxFoto Creative Edition. This graphics application does come with digital scrapbooking kits made by the industry's digital scrapbook kit designers. Whatever program you ultimately choose, if you want to be able to use the many free and inexpensive kits that are available for download on the Web, then make sure your software can read a transparent .png file and a .jpeg file. The embellishments in digital scrapbook kits come as transparent .png files. The background papers come as .jpeg files. Good luck and have fun with your new endeavor.
