Q: Where are cheap places to get scrapbook supplies?

A: Dollar stores occasionally have some scrapbooking supplies. Also keep your eyes open at your local thift store. Don't forget to check out your local craft store, often times they have the spendy stuff but also some dollar bins with some pretty neat things in them.

Q: Where are the best Scrapbook and/or Art Supply stores in Toronto?
I just moved to Toronto and have recently taken up Scrapbooking/Art Journalling among other avenues of expressing my creativity... Does anyone know where in the city to find the best Art Supply or Scrapbook supply stores? I live in North York but am downtown often as well as work in the West End and visit around the Danforth often. As long as you know of somewhere I can easily access by TTC I would love to hear about it :) Thank you kindly in advance!

A: Michaels is a good source but there are a lot of dollar stores that have craft sections where I am in Brampton. Check the yellow pages in the phone book for Arts and Crafts supplies. here are a few links.

Q: Have a new scrapbook business...looking for manufacturers of scrapbook supplies-brads, ribbon, metal frames...
I have started up a new scrapbook company. We have our own line of papers and stickers, and are looking to add more coordinating items. Q: I want to start a scrapbook, but will it suck up all my $?
How much do you spend on yours? Is it a really expensive hobby? I look at scrapbook supplies in the stores and they seem very expensive to me.

A: Scrabooking can be expensive, but it depends on how detailed you want to be. If you don't care about tons of stickers, die cuts, or other embellishments, then it's not that expensive at all. Personally, I think the most important part of scrapbooking is to preserve not only the photo, but the story behind the photo. Journaling is something that can be handwritten or printed from the computer. All that you would need for a scrapbook of just photos and the journaling is paper, photos, the book itself, and maybe a few coordinating papers to use for matting or backgrounds. It's easy and it doesn't make the pages look cluttery. Scrapbooking doesn't have to be expensive. I get my stuff from Joann's (mostly). They have sales on their stickers quite often and if you watch the sales, you can get their 12 x 12 scrapbook paper for about $0.16 a sheet. They have 40% off any one item (regular price) coupons that come in their ads (in the Sunday paper) and you can sign up to receive coupons in your email and in the mail! They also take Michael's coupons too--and best of all, you can use all these coupons in the same sales transaction. Because of this, I hardly ever pay full price for scrapbok stuff. I highly recommend you look into this and see if you have a Joann's in your area.

Q: Just starting to scrapbook.. What are the basic supplies that I need? ?
I am putting this stuff of my christmas list, what should I ask for??

A: I've been scrapbooking for over 10 years so my recommedations are: a cutter that is at least 12" long - there are shorter ones on the market but there are a lot of papers that are 12 X 12 and you'll need a 12" cutter to cut them cardstock - a lot of albums have the drop in page protectors which means that card stock you purchase creates the page. You'll want coordinating colors. decorative paper - there are a lot of papers out on the market - most but not all are double sided. Again it needs to coordinate with your cards stock adhesive - I prefer the repositionable Dotto for attaching photos to the page. That way if you ever want to pull that photo to make a copy or if you want to redo your pages in the future your photo will be to pull your photos out and use them. permanent adhesive - I've been using Tombow adhesive for years - you can use this for attaching your card stock layers to each other and other things on your page. It's the one that has a blue see through case. You may need someone to show you how to use it the first time. a pair of scissors for cutting detail images. embellishments - these are optional. There are all kinds of accesories you can purchase to add to your pages - riboon, stickers, die cuts, chipboard, buttons, and more. Some people like a lot of bling on their pages. That brings me to make a comment here which is for you to keep in mind that the photos are what needs to stand out on your pages - not all of the stuff you add to your pages. Personally I prefer to create pages that are more simple without a lot of do-dads and bling. Those are the basics from there you can add acquire over time all kinds of other tools such as a circle cutter - Coluzzle or perhaps the circle and oval cutting system from Creative Memories would be a good choice. Personally I'd prefer the Creative Memories circle and oval cutting systems for their ease of use. punches - there are all kinds of punches out on the market and there are all kinds of ideas out there for creative projects Cropodile - a really cool tool that punches holes and sets eyelets ink and rubber stamps I would recommend finding a Stampin Up demonstrator in your area because she would be able to help you get started as SU has what area called Simply Scrappin Kits which make it easy to create pages that coordinate. The second web site below is one which has a lot of ideas and challenges for scrapbooking. In the Gallery there is a section just for scrapbook pages. I would recommend getting papers from one company such as Stampin Up. You'll want card stock and decorative papers that are quality. Stampin Up has 48 colors in their line besides the neutral colors and 6 In Colors. In Colors are in the catalog for a year and are available in dye ink, 81/2 X 11 and 12 X 12 card stock and coordinating ribbons. I really like their line of products not only due to the quality but also because the colors coordinate so well with each other. I hope you get what the theings you need to start your new hobby. Have fun with it!!

Q: What is your favorite scrapbook supply?
What company has the best products?

A: I like Top Line Creations. And I also like Oriental Trading for their good deals. I always have to have glue dots or double sided tape so I love Tombow and 3M. Fiskars makes the best cutter/trimmers in my opinion. For paper I love Die Cuts With a View. They have great paper stacks. I love Rusty Pickle's stuff. K memories is always good. There are so many but these are some of my favorites.

Q: Question about supplies for scrapbook?
I'm trying to make a scrapbook for my mom for her birthday. I have never really made one before, so I'm kind of new to all the different materials out there. I bought some Vellum paper that has really cute phrases and sayings etc on it. But I don't know how to attatch it to the pages. Do I use glue? or tape? thanks in advance for your help...

A: Vellum is a tricky one to work with. First off, you cut out the saying that you want. You can attach is different ways. -A glue stick doesn't work well on vellum. So, if you do not want the double-sided tape, tape runner or photo square to show, you put it in a place that you will cover up later with some embellishment. -If you won't be covering it up, you can buy special adhesive just for vellum. You can get it at the craft store or scrapbook store. It's nearly invisible but you can still see it slightly. -If you don't want it to show at all, you can attach it using brads or eyelets. The eyelets get set by making a hole where you want the eyelet, then hammering the back flat so it sandwiches all the layers of paper in between the front and back of the eyelet. The brad gets set by making a small hole and pushing the brad through and then folding the stem open to hold it in place. (The eyelet setter and hole maker come in a kit if you don't already have it. You can use the hole maker for the brads too.) -The last thing you can do it to turn the vellum into a sticker using a Xyron machine. Depending on how fancy you want to go you can use many of the machine. Here are the basic ones: http://www.xyron.com/enUS/Categories/create-a-sticker_.html You feed the paper into it, pull it through on the other end and it has sticky on the back and it's now a sticker! (The adhesive doesn't show.) Hope this helps. :)

Q: Does Anyone Need Scrapbook Supplies?
myspace.com/ask4lisette_tlc

A: There are many organizations that can use scrapbook supplies. Try local hospitals, childrens or womens service providers or your local libraries. For instance, I work with a group that helps women and children who are transitioning from domestic violence. I donate my time and all materials to do free workshops for them. I'm sure you can find worthy groups in your area that would appreciate whatever you are donating.

Q: scrapbook supplies near fredericton nb?

A: Here's a link to others in your area who scrapbook, maybe some of them can help you out... http://scrapbook.meetup.com/cities/ca/nb/chipman/

Q: I've got Scrapbook supplies to sell, does anyone know where or to whom I can sell them to?
myspace.com/ask4lisette_tlc

A: This isn't designed to be a selling site, so you probably won't get much business here. Have you tried eBay? They have scrapbook stuff. It has its own category, even. I've looked around there a few times.

Q: Can anyone tell me if there is a scrapbook store in teh State College, PA area
I am looking for a non chain store (i.e. not Michael's, Target etc.) that carries scrapbook supplies.

A: Before I read the rest of your question, I was gonna suggest a chain store because I've noticed that the scrapbooking sections are quite large and varied. I don't live in your area so I can't say. I've always found google maps quite helpful for that sort of thing. We had a scrapbook store here for a while, but it closed. I don't know how many of them are actually out there. Oh yeah, there is a great mail order catalog for scrapbooking - Times to Cherish. Good luck!
