Q: Scrapbooking supplies?
I'm thinking about starting a scrapbook for my family. What are some basic tools I need? Where can I find information on the basics of scrapbooking to help me get started? On what website can I go to buy some cheap supplies? What advise would you give a beginner?

A: I would go to www.scrapbook.com. I used this site a ton the last time I made a scrapbook. Its free and is way better than the books with ideas that you can buy at craft stores. There are a TON of examples on there that people have posted and I found them very helpful for ideas. Generally, you really don't need a ton to make one- it really depends on how "fancy" you want it to be. I make a scrapbook every time I take a vacation and each book ends up costing around $300 in the end. This is just because I buy so much stuff though, so it gets expensive. All you really need is the book, page inserts, paper, pens, and photos. Then the rest is basically just up to you. I don't know if you have a Hobby Lobby around your area, but I've found that their scrapbook section is much more extensive and WAY cheaper than other places like Michaels. Also, they usually have a printable coupon on their website for 40% of pretty much anything in the store. I would definitely recommend Hobby Lobby, but i'm not sure about any good online stores, sorry.

Q: Way to organize all of my sewing and scrapbooking supplies?
I have loads of fabric and patterns and sewing supplies and tons of scrapbook paper and stuff that I hope to scrapbook in the future. Right now, I have a small desk with my sewing machine and a few unorganized boxes of fabric and patterns. I also have an ugly black plastic scrapbooking cart which I don't really need (and would love to get rid of) Any suggestions on ways I can take up less space and keep all my stuff organized?

A: For my sewing stuff I use plastic totes and zip-lock bags. The totes come in so many colors and sizes and stack together really well (you should see the rainbow stacks I have. Sorry tho no pics). I color code mine with different fabrics in different totes (denim, cotton, quilting, flannel etc). And inside the totes I keep the different fabrics in individual bags (I'm sure the space bags would come in handy here too). Somewhere I acquired some really large bags but can't remember where. Two or three yards of nicely folded fabric can fit in a standard one gallon bag tho. As for project's I'm currently working on....I keep everything in a tote just for that. I have fabric, pattern, thread, notions,....everything in there. It keeps things clean and together. When the project is complete I empty the tote and start with a new project. Oh and if you have space on the wall to put shelves, brackets and boards from a local hardware/lumber store work great.

Q: Where is the best place to find cheap scrapbooking supplies?
I absolutely LOVE scrapbooking, but the more I look for supplies, the more I see that they aren't all so cheap! :( My favorite things to use are the raised stickers, as well as all the interesting pattern cutouts you find in kits. Is there any place that sells scrapbooking supplies at a fairly cheap price? My scrapbook is only 2 pages long because I don't have a good variety, lol. Thanks for any help :)

A: You can find some great deals at these places: Walmart Dollar Tree or any dollar stores http://www.OrientalTrading.com - this is online and catalog order. I order from these guys all the time you get a large quantity of supplies at a very low cost. Just request them to send you a catalog. They have many different themes. Target http://www.stampinup.com - go here and request to be contacted by a demonstrator and maybe even through a party. You will get free items for the party and discounts on products. I use this company often for my scrapbooking supplies. HINT: Be sure to tell the demonstrator you want to have a themed party. Miachels Any discount store will help you find cheap and quality products you can use for your scrapbook. Discount stores are great places to find great bargains. I get most of my scrapbooking supplies from these types of stores. Another great place to find awesome deals is by checking out yard sales and such. I always find wonderful scrapbooking treasures at these sales. Here are a few other great places I use every so often online: http://www.cutting-mats.net/scrapbook-ki... http://www.ScrapLove.com/store http://www.photomix.com http://www.AddictedToScrapbooking.com http://www.memoryvilla.com http://www.just4funcrafts.com/ http://www.premierscrapbooking.com/ I look for quality and quantity at a great price. I like to buy bulk and try to find a wholesaler so you don't spend to much and you usually get more for your money then most stores.

Q: I need help organizing my scrapbooking supplies?
I live in a small house and do not have room for a scrapbooking room. I have A LOT of supplies. I have some travel totes to keep them in and other misc. storage containers. My main problem is it takes 15 min to drag it all out and another 15 min to put it all away. Plus the time I spend seaching for things. I could do more pages if I was more organized. Got any great ideas to help me out? Thanks!!!

A: I keep my stickers in a binder filled with two-sided sticky pages with a plastic covering each side (they used to be photo albums, before the sturdier ones we have now were invented; now you can buy them almost anywhere). This is perfect for me, as I simply lift the plastic, take out what I need, and put the remains back in. Also, I can easily rearrange pages and stickers to keep the album organized by subject (food, letters, numbers, stars/flowers, smileys, etc.), and the binder hardly takes up any room. Another idea is to have one 12x12 scrapbook filled only with decorative scrapbook papers (the removed white ones can be used to replace a mess-up). This way they can be viewed and removed easily, and this too does not take up a lot of space. (I do not have that many pages; therefore I ripped out several plastics from an old scrapbook that had extra and put all my papers inside.) As I don't have that many, I stuff away all my ribbon, rickrack, buttons and bows into a little container. You can organize them by color, size etc and place them in small jars (baby food jars are multi-purpose and can be bought cheaply at craft stores). Good luck!

Q: Where to find cheap scrapbooking supplies?
Does anyone know of a website (with Canadian Dollars) that I can find cheap scrapbooking supplies at? It's just so expensive at craft stores...

A: The cheapest are the ones you make yourself. There's no law that says you have to buy the stuff already made.In fact it's not really crafting if you are just assembling stuff you bought in a store. Cut shapes from scrap material, old greeting cards, wrapping paper, even pretty napkins. Make your own brads from paper clips and polymer clay. .

Q: What's a good store or website to get scrapbooking supplies from?
I am an avid scrapbooker and while I usually find what I need at A.C. Moore, Hobby Lobby and Michael's I am wondering what, if any, websites (or other craft stores) have a large variety of inexpensive supplies. I am currently looking for stickers, die-cuts and rub-ons that have to do with friendship, sisters and family. I'm just wondering if anyone has found a reliable site that has what I'm looking for. Thanks.

Q: I have some scrapbooking supplies but how do I get started?
I have a kit and some pictures (mostly digital) and stuff that I have bought over the last year or two. What do I need to get started? How much setup time does it take to get going? How much space do I need? What are god start and stopping points? What is the first few things I should do?

A: There is no best answer for this! Where to start is totally up to you. If it were me, I would find the picture that I like the most and a couple of ones to go with it. Then kind of decide on a color or theme. With the setup time, every one is different. If you like to organize your things before hand, its going to take some time. Most people that I know just put it in a box and go for it. We have a table that we clean off before three of us use it. common stuff to get before you start -stickers -colored paper -glue -pictures -ruler -cutters Try this: 1. pick out two-three pictures that kind of go together in a theme. Like eating, dressing up, nature. 2. Then pick the background. you also need to think about what size you need. 3. place the pictures on the paper in different positions. What way do you like them? Can you make some smaller? Can you fancy cut some? (they have all different kinds of cutters for this) 4. find scrapes of paper that you can place around the picture to accent it more. Cut them into different shapes if you would like 5. After you have found what you would like, Glue everything!!!! Stick glue is better for this project. Hope this helped!!!!
